Posted By: daacon, 07-07-2008, 06:54 AM

I am out of town (country actually) later this week but it is pretty simple to start the thread .....I may not be able to comment as much but enjoy folks ....

Feel free to post any topic you enjoy that was photographed between June 29th and July 13th.

Rules as before:
1) No theme just your favorite stuff.
2) Let's keep it to about 4-6 images per post just so the thread doesn't get too big each week .
3) Any Pentax camera is fine, film, P&S, DSLR (or Samsung DSLR)
4) Runs for 7 days <Sunday Date> to <Sunday Date>
5) Enter anything you shot last week or this current week until the thread closes.

These were taken at the Corinth NY beach on the Hudson River on July 5 late afternoon before the fireworks. The kids were from the Camp Mohawk Valley Ski School and they do their water ski show here every July 4 weekend. I shot these with K10D, Sigma 70-300 at 1/500, ISO 800 in shutter priority. It was very late in the day and the light was fading fast and the boat was going by a good 40 mph.

Those shots were all part of a sequence and yes he did finally wipeout. That ski show was the first time I have really used the continuous mode other than to play with it to see if it worked. I shot around 400 pictures that evening and almost all are keepers. I was very happy with the results, especially for my first try with this camera. The first 2 were as he was passing right by me and the last 2 further up the river while he was doing the flip. Whoever said you can't shoot sports with Pentax hasn't tried very hard or maybe hasn't tried at all. It was almost 8 PM and the sun was alread below the mountains

Based on the great standard ofphotos this week, I feel I might be letting the side down a bit with these two. Not the greatest of shots by any means, but a couple of feathered visitors to the back yard this morning. Lorikeets particularly nervous, slightest move and the were gone.

Dingle Peninsula

I am lucky to live a couple of hours from some of the most beautiful landscape in Ireland, the Dingle Peninsula. Here you can chase mountain goats, have a pint in the last pub before America, drive up the narrowest mountain passes, attend church in Irish and walk until your legs fall off. We did at least some of these things on a short trip this weekend.

As usual these link to the Flickr pages, where I will be posting lots more images. The first two are with the Vivitar Series 1 105mm, the last two with the DA 16-45mm.

The water is cold but the beaches are beautiful. This is near Slea Head, where they filmed Ryan's Daughter.

Many types of seabirds can be spotted from the cliff-face drive. Only the rude gulls approach this close, looking for freebies.

Even the smallest lay-bys offer amazing wildflowers, rock formations and coastal vistas. If you hit only the tourist spots and travel only guided by signs you'll miss the best of the area.

The ever-constant, ever-changing slate grey seas fascinate me. Ireland is often best in the rain and mist. Good thing too, since even at the height of summer that's mostly what we get!

Always love to see pictures of children, be they goslings, ducklings or human children, they are so cute. Nice series Dave, good shot, Rosemary!

Great pose with the black bird, Bruce!

Pure mystique in that OOF, Rollsup, I like it!

Robin, I remember that film! Absolutely great scenery! Those gulls have such a great posture!
