HOST'S NOTE: Merry Christmas Everyone !!!

Welcome to Potw #41 12/14/08 - 12/27/08

This week's photos will cover these dates: Sunday Dec 14th till Saturday Dec 27th.

Let's keep up the high standard of shots we have seen over the past weeks.

Rules as before:

1) No theme just your favorite stuff.
2) Let's keep it to about 4-6 images per post just so the thread doesn't get too big each week .
3) Any Pentax camera is fine, film, P&S, DSLR (or Samsung DSLR)
4) Runs for 14 days. Sunday Dec 7th till Saturday December 20th.
5) Enter anything you shot last week or this current week until the thread closes.

Some really nice shots are in the mix this week. Dave, I really like the first one. Your frozen mustache makes me cold.
Duh Vinci, I love how the bulbs on the tree turned out.
Alan, I especially like the first one. Santa may have passed this way.

Dave,
thanks for hosting. Nice toque you have there (my dictionary says: cap in canadian).

Duh Vinci,
think you could sell that shot right away.

Alan,
#1 for me too. I'm getting to dig black and white pics more and start having a clue as to what to look for.

No frostbite here, around freezing temp. and rising, so here's your Christmas market,

Merry Christmas and happy holidays all,
Georg (the other)

Thanks D - you will notice the frost on the edges of my Toque from my breath. Great DOF on the gifts shot I like it

Thanks Peter I am sure it is 10 or so degrees colder here - but like they say it is a dry cold - humidity and -30 don't get along as you are very familiar with ! -28C here with no wind is not really all that bad.

Alan - a nice series I love the first one.

Thanks Susan yeah it has been cold but you know with no wind it did not feel all that bad - could have stayed out an hour or so I think.

Georg - nice winter shot - and nice Canadianism ! Next you will be sitting on a chesterfield haha. It's around freezing you say ? Hope you don't get any rain and then freeze - that makes for nasty driving here ! Nice shot btw.

Here are what I like to call Natures Christmas Ornaments.

And a Charlie Brown Christmas Tree to tie it all together !

Thanks for hosting Dave! The sun finally came out Sunday after rain sleet and ice so I had to get out for a bit. At least the days are getting longer now

thanks, Dave, for hosting this week!

it's +3 (F) here this morning but you've got us beat! cold enough for me.
I enjoyed your snow shots and I can appreciate the frost-in-the-facial-hair
phenomenon.

Duh Vinci, nice shot, I have been trying to get something like that with no luck at all. You got it right!

Alan, nice shots, like the texture of the snow

Georg, I like the colors and motion in this scene

Tom very well done, like the last one especially

I made myself a little box with a window of plexiglas (perspex to
those overseas) for my snowflake macros, but then the snow didn't cooperate,
instead of classic 6-pointed flakes it shifted to clumpy needles:

(click any of these for bigger version)

the chickadees were out despite the snow, of course the longest lens I
had outside with me was 135mm, here's a couple of shots I cropped:

Tom you have developed quite an Eagle eye lately great captures of one of natures best fishermen. I imagine those birds are moving very fast.

Tim - thanks for the comments. Interesting snowflakes. Why is it so red ? Nice chickadee shots.

you're welcome. I had a red filter on the flash - did you see my post at
the very end of the last POTW with nicer snowflakes but not as good a
background? the green one is with a filter on the flash, too. Just for fun.

Here's the first shot I got with my new K20D. Yes, it is pretty boring - a shot of the alarm clock next to my bed taken with F 50mm f1.7. It sure was a fun first shot though.
