Welcome to POTW #56

Hi,
As David Whiteley nominated me as the host of this weeks challenge it's now my turn to open it.
Finally good weather arrived (here in Europe) and summer is definitely on it's way..(well at least on the Northern part of the Globe) ...with loads of new opportunities. I don't think anybody needs to be encouraged to go out and shoot. Just please don't forget to post and comment
P.S.
Of course pictures from the Southern part of the Globe are also awaited!

Cheers, Andras

At The Wetlands

This is the first time I've been the first photographer to post in a POTW thread. As I see it, there'll be nowhere to go but up from here.
These were captured at the start of an architectural photography class outing to the office building of an architectural firm, which is near wetlands. I eventually got around to photographing the building's exterior and interior.
Captured with a K100D, Takumar-F 28-80, ISO 400, aperture priority.
Thanks to planedriver for hosting this thread, and thanks to all who have contributed to past threads and will contribute to this one.
All best,
Stu

When I posted a bunch of Magnolia buds last week, some commenters asked for a follow-up with blooms so here they are.

Nice start to the week. planedriver thanks for hosting this week. There are a few signs of spring around here. The ice is breaking up in the harbour and there's mud everywhere.

These guys decided to catch up on their reading on the setps of Canada's birthplace.

The last shot was from a portrait session with this great little guy who didn't mind being in front of the camera

Stu - Nice start I like the bark picture - so nice to see some colors

Garth - nice series - I really like that crab picture very colorful.

dadipentak - nice shots - I like the simple black background shot the best.

Planedriver, thank you for hosting this weeks POTW!

Stu - I especially like the pine branch shot, it reminds me of warmer days....:ugh:
Garth - I like the boat shot, it's very powerfull and it has great colours
dadipentak - wow, great mognolia. I agree with Dave that the ones on the black background are outstanding!
Peter - that B&W one with the reading guys is very nice! I like the composition....
Dave - trying to get us in a sad mood with that horse eh? I like it much, but its ears seem to be more extant than the rest of the animal

Andras, thanks for taking the controls.

Stu, nice simple shots, I like the composition of the first one, the way you have quartered it.

Garth, nice shot of the dragon boat, I know they can be hard to shoot when they get moving.
I like the title of the second shot, you could equally have called it 'David and Goliath'
Nice colours on the crab.

Dadi, I'm torn between the simple second shot and the busy third shot. The background in the second shot reminds me of a stained glass window.

Peter, I like the two reflection shots, especially the first one, it's almost abstract.
I like the second shot, nice conversion and it tells a story.

Dave, you're getting good mileage on the horse shot, it's a very nice shot.
I like the second shot on a personal level, the family that shoots together, stays together.
I have retitled your third shot 'Dodo in the Doodoo'.
I like the first shot in your second set, nice silhouettes.

Rense, very nice shot, good conversion and great title but seeing as I'm in a retitling mood, I have dubbed it 'Contemplating one's ...' (Don't mind me, I'm English)

While we were putting out the displays, getting ready to open the nursery this morning,
I saw across the street, a dumb Towhee, attacking her reflection in the door mirror of a car parked in the drive across the street. What made it even funnier was that there were two reflections, one in the mirror and one in the window. I ran and got my camera and dashed across the street, I was able to get within about 10 feet of her.
She was trying to attack them both.

The first shot is a blur but it gives you an idea of how fast she was moving trying to attack them both at the same time.
Shots two and three are individual standoffs with the two reflections.

The final shot is of a lizard who lives in a log pile across the creek. I go and sit there at lunchtime to read but I take my camera with me. The lizard has got quite used to me being there so I can get very close (THIS IS NOT A CROP). This was the first time I have been able to get below it so I could use the trees to create a nice background.
