Picture of the Week 91 : 29 Nov - 13 Dec 2009
Posted By: daacon, 12-06-2009, 08:00 AM

Must be my turn again eh ? Hey this is a weekly thread that spans two weeks (confused yet ) We all know the rules and the point is to post post and then post.

Thanks to Peter for hosting last week it can be Found : Here

Welcome to the picture of the week. Show us your best (and worst) stuff

Picture of the Week 91 : 29 Nov - 13 Dec 2009

This is by far my favorite thread as we get to see some shots from around the world so with the christmas season upon us time to up the shutter count and show us what your part of the world is doing.

Again same rules and really other than time frames there are no rules
1) No theme just your favorite stuff.
2) Let's keep it to about 4-6 images per post just so the thread doesn't get too big each week.
3) Any Pentax camera is fine, film, P&S, DSLR (or Samsung DSLR)
4) Date : Sunday Nov - 22 to Sunday - Sunday Dec - 6 2009. Enter anything you shot last week or during this current week until the thread closes.
Previous hosts: Each one is a hotlink to that POTW thread to look past at the previous 90 weeks.

Nightscape

I experimented with some night shots last night and I am open to suggestions on techniques. The first with my Promaster 70-300mm f4-5.6 LD at 70mm, f9, 10 seconds, ISO 100:
Attachment 48946

The following were with a Quantaray 28-90 mm f/3.5-5.6. O had to do a lot of PP with these as they came out too warm.
28mm, f7.1, 10 sec, ISO 100:
Attachment 48947
28mm, f3.5, 6 sec, ISO 100:
Attachment 48948
28mm, f8, 20 sec, ISO 100:
Attachment 48949

Your frigid air is spilling down over the border into my yard! Not much snow in the forecast, but cold, cold, cold...windy too. (A large gust just shook my house!)

Great start of the week.
Iris, I see you enjoy your new camera!
You started photographing everything, isn't it?
I like the first shot, but you should adjust the
White Balance a little!

ramesybuckeye - I think the last one is the best of the bunch. I would try a longer exposure , it's tough with the moon there it will overexpose.

Stephan - hot off the presses ! I see you have snow as well. Welcome to winter.

Irish - nice set. I agree with Rense white bakance is off a bit. Eaiser to fix if you shoot raw but it is adjustable in jpg as well. I like the fire one at -19C (Feels like -29C ) it looks very inviting.

daacon - some nice football shots there
ramseybuckeye - try shooting scenes like that as manual HDR. get a nice exposure for the moon (will be quite short) and then do a 2nd much much longer exposure for the foreground. then erase the moon from the long exposure, and blend them together will help get rid of the problem you have with an overexposed moon, and underexposed landscape.
causey - looks nice, has been around 35 degrees celcius around here for the last few days, and forecast to be the same coming
Iris - nice shots, but as Rense said, try adjusting the white balance a bit, and you will get much nicer colours in the first one
Rense - that last shot is really good, i like it a lot
Plankton - great drumming shot

some shots i took of a friend playing cricket on saturday. using my FA100-300 f4.7-5.8 w a full manual 2x TC. Manual focusing this lens @ 600mm is very hard, the throw is so short! had to use high ISO to freeze the shots too, so the pics are a bit noisy, but it was good fun
