PROJECT 52-2-30 Perspective: Opposites
Posted By: mithrandir, 01-30-2010, 04:47 PM

For Week 30 we will continue working with perspectives. This week we compose pictures that contrast opposites from your personal perspective. Use your imagination (so Mithrandir can pick your brain ). Think of compositions that incorporate ideas like: small and large, near and far, old and new, focused and unfocused, left and right; well you get the idea ... now share yours.

(Pictures for the week 30 competition are to be taken and posted between 20100131 and 20100207).

NOTE: We have two Seasonal competitions planned for the last two weeks of year two. You may take pictures for these anytime between 20090705 and the posting dates of 20100704 or 20100711. This way you can include your favorite holiday or season whenever it occurs during the year.

Rules:
1. Anyone and everyone who is interested in eligible. The goal continues to be
have fun and share comments, concepts, insights, and techniques with fellow
Pentaxians.
2. Each week will feature a Theme and Sub-concept for you to explore.
3. Post your single picture in Project 52-2 thread for the week. Explain what
motivated you to take the picture and/or how you feel it represents the weekly
theme.
4. Some post-processing is OK (adjusting white balance, exposure, color
saturation), but let's try to stay away from heavily PP'ed images here. Try to
keep the creativity to photographic techniques and the captures themselves.
5. Since this project is about technique, and not camera, shots taken by nonPentax cameras are allowed. Cameras can be SLRs, DSLRs, Point & Shoot and Medium Format.
6. There is one “Theme Concept” labeled “black and white,” but feel free to post
black and white, sepia, monotone, etc., for any of the other themes.
7. The picture you post should be taken during the week in which the theme is active to be eligible for judging.
8. Any picture taken from 20090705 to listed closing date is acceptable for the
two “Seasonal” competitions – Projects 52-2-51 & 52.

My entry. Mighty vs. Weak?

EDIT: Probably I should have mentioned the shot was made with the Tamron Adaptall 105/2.5 @ f/2.5, ISO100 and a tripod. The 28 mm in the exif is nonsense!

How Many Opposites Can You Squeeze Into a Photograph?

Why do I pick projects like this one? I must have had a hundred different ideas. I finally settled on this one.
Domestic - Foreign
Snow Covered - Cleared
Full Sized - Compact
Downhill - Uphill
Front - Rear
Headlights - Taillights (with subsets of left - right)
Mailbox - Newspaperbox
Wooded - Cleared
etc.

Hey Rob, your question "How many...." was going through my mind when I shot mine too...
(white-black, large-small, background-foreground, out focus-in focus, strong-weak, ....) . But it's obvious there are not as many opposites in my shot as in yours.....

HAHA! You'd win on the number of opposites! Great one.

I see a Kia Soul. If it's yours, how do you like it? I'm about this far > < from buying one and haven't even driven it yet.

Tamia,
I've got about 2500 miles on the KIA Soul and absolutely no regrets. It is a great car for the money and a hoot to drive. It seems to get better everytime I drive it.

Totally off topic

+1 for the KIA (Sportage) bought new in '06 about 60,000 Kilometres - nothing but regular scheduled maintenance.... it's the wife's she loves it... .So do I when I get to drive it .... (4x4 fun in the winter )

Now back to our regularly scheduled topic...

Sorry about that Dave, I tend to get sidetracked when talking about things that give you great bang for the buck (Like my Pentax K10D, etc.).
