Posted By: Peter Zack, 02-07-2010, 07:37 PM

Welcome to this 100th edition of the POTW. Frank hosted a great 99th and since it's an anniversary of sorts, Frank asked me to host this one once more.

So now that we are at 100. We need 100 submissions. Lets get some of those Snowmaggedon shots as well!

Picture of the Week 100: January 31, 2010 to February 14, 2010.

A special welcome to all new members: feel free to post your shots from this week and last week!

Most important note: feel free to post your shots from this week and last week!

Again same rules and really other than time frames there are no rules
1) No theme just your favorite stuff.
2) Let's keep it to about 4-6 images per post just so the thread doesn't get too big each week.
3) Any Pentax camera is fine, film, P&S, DSLR (or Samsung DSLR)
4) Date: Sunday Jan 24 2010 to Sunday Feb 7 2010. Enter anything you shot last week or during this current week until the thread closes.
5) The current host will appoint the new host as an invitation via PM. If possible, the new thread will be linked to the previous one and the new thread will start between 12:00EST and 5PM EST on the Sunday. If the thread doesn't start, please contact Peter Zack, Moderator.

Peter thanks for hosting.
Grandson is darling. Glad my bike stays in the house.

Jezza. Love the second, and I'm envious, anytime I went camping I never had a table.

Here's one I took today. I used a bit of PP on it because the backgroud was white/blown out.

A very nice start to the week.

jezza323, What a great looking area. Very lush and some nice shots. This looks like a spot where a macro lens would be an all day affair.

photolady, Nice rodent shot. Let me guess, you caught him trying to get at your bird feeder?

xs400, nice series. that is an odd building. Nice looking spot though. I've got to get to your city some day. It has incredible variety as your posts often show.

xjjohnno fun series. looking at the snow falling here, I can't wait for summer. Neat bikes.

PinarelloOnly, you are so right. They turn skin to this wonderful shade of green that is nearly impossible to correct. Never been to one of these events, I actually don't quite get them. It must be a rush sitting in the cab when that thing starts to flip over.

Nomad Hope you are feeling better and nice series. Love these old diners and a great capture. Nice one by the roadside as well. Good stuff, now go take a shot of Rum and get back out there.

My camera has pretty much sat idle for the last 3 weeks or so. It's been one of those miserable, cold winters with no snow and my usual winter pastimes haven't been happening. I finally got frustrated Saturday and grabbed my crampons and went hiking on the local trails. It was mostly crusted over ice and old snow. I hike this area often in the summer but the winter I noticed some different things that I never noticed before like that odd looking rotted out stump. While people to the south were digging out, I even found a bare spot to have lunch. An odd winter for the Adirondacks.

Peter, thanks for hosting this festive PotW!! It was a great idea to start it, almost two years ago! And what a great shots to start with!!

Jezza - hrmmpffff, what a colour! So that's how green looks like. I haven't seen green for ages, exept the green I will show you in the next post...
Photolady - some nice squirrels! Never see them here in our garden, ours (the European red ones) dislike the younger urban surrounding I'm living in...
Frank - great shots, that last one makes me hungry for summer!!!
John - nice bike shots. And is that green on the cakes consumable? Looks like something deadly to me!
Pinarello - what a machines!! Must have been bad for your ears...but good shots!
Nomad - those are realy nice, even in the dead of night!
Reeftool - yeah, winter is permitted to end, by me too.... I had to look twice to realise what is in that last shot

Some of mine from today, from the campus of Wageningen University. The note in the first one says: Prohibited to park here.

Who would notice?

All were shot using the A 35-70/3.5-4.5.

Thanx for hosting Peter, and that's a sweet (and well captured) grandson you got there.

That's some great nature jezza323! Wish I could ride my MTB there.

Wonderful flowerpic Nomad, great light and depth.

Reeftool, the #3 is a bit scary. Nice captures, the area would suit well for downhilling

I'll contribute with my 2:

Well heres my favorite "Snowmageddon" shot
[IMG][/IMG]

I got lucky with this hand-held hawk shot with the DA*300mm. I was actually shooting something else when it showed up. What really impresses me is that this is cropped from 14.5 to 4.3MP--that's one terrific lens! Borno observed, btw, that the light reflected upward from the snow probably helped a lot.
