Visit the Surreal!! Show Your Psychotic Edge...

Do you ever shoot the occasional image that is unusual, bizarre, disorienting, and/or disturbing. Are there some that you are hesitant to show family or friends for fear they will begin to doubt your sanity? Is the dark side hiding just under the surface of some of your best work? Are you a closet goth?

Now you don't have to wait until Halloween or the next goth convention to share your stuff. Post them here!
  • Confusing?
  • Disorienting?
  • Disturbing?
  • Bizarre?
  • Dark?
  • Macabre?
  • Hints of alienation?
  • Highly symbolic?
  • Threatening?

Note: While I encourage the surreal, I would hope that good taste would prevail and that we refrain from gore, carnage, graphic violence, and stuff of the slasher genre. Think Hitchcock, not Freddy Kruger.

Steve

(Generally an upbeat, positive sort of guy, but with this nagging tendency towards the macabre...)

Here is one to get us started...

Youth Is Fleeting

This is an architectural detail on the side of a 18th-century convent church in Austria. The grim reality is that little separates the bloom of youth from the decay of the grave.

And to show that this thread is not just about death and such, here is one with a disorienting perspective...

Someone mentioned a similarity to the Batman comics. I concur...or maybe Hitchcock...

Great idea, Steve, and that Youth that is Fleeting is pretty eerie.

Here's something I find surreal.

Just declined by PPG...

Guy In A Box

I guess the guys at PPG don't appreciate washed out colors or mildly disturbing subjects!

My own hand with a projection of the tendons (or was it nerves?) in a bionic exhibition.

If i'm not mistaken, you did ask for dark and disturbing images. The shot in question is simply something I shot at a market.. markets do not have an 'R' rating the last time I checked and are open to the general public. To you this may be shocking, but to another person, in China or Vietnam, it is simply food.

Sorry to have offended you.
