Picture of the Week: March 7 to March 21
Posted By: ramseybuckeye, 03-13-2010, 10:12 PM

This is the 105th Picture of the Week!

I will start by echoing Irishwhite, the esteemed host of last week's POTW, and thanking all of the administrators and moderators who keep this website going. As someone relatively new to owning a Pentax, the users of this great website have helped me improve my skills at a much greater pace than I thought possible. This is truly a global community full of good neighbors always there to help.

POTW is fun because everyone can post whatever pictures they took that week, and we get variety of great photos. We should start getting even more variety as we Northern Hemisphere residents welcome Spring and our Southern Hemisphere friends ease into Autumn. Let's shoot!

Feel free to post your photos from this coming week, as well as this last week!

Again same rules and really other than time frames, there are no rules:

1) No theme, just post your favorite pix.

2) Let's keep it to about 4-6 images per post just so the thread doesn't get too big each week.

3) Any Pentax camera or Samsug DSLR (I'm a Sammy DSLR owner, so don't be shy!) is fine, whether it's film, P&S, or DSLR

4) Date: Sunday 7 March 2010 to Sunday 21 March 2010. Enter anything you shot last week or during this current week until the thread closes.

5) The current host will appoint the new host as an invitation via PM. If possible, the new thread will be linked to the previous one and the new thread will start between 12:00EST and 5PM EST on the Sunday. If the thread doesn't start, please contact Peter Zack, Moderator via PM.

Previous hosts: Each one is a hotlink to that POTW thread to look past at the previous 103 weeks. 1 Peter Zack, 2Eaglerapids 3 rmtagg, 4 Peter Zack, 5 daacon, 6 Bramela, 7 mtnbearhug, 8 dantuyhoa, 9 gawan,10 roentarre, 11 daacon, 12 Kris, 13 mtnbearhug, 14 SCGushue, 15 daacon, 16 maxwell1295, 17 dantuyhoa, 18 daacon, 19 maxwell1295 19(2) daacon, 20 Bramela, 21 Syb, 22 maxwell1295, 23 maxwell1295, 24 dantuyhoa, 25 Gawan, 26 Peter Zack, 27 borno, 28 daacon, 29 gawan, 30 Damn Brit, 31 maxwell1295 32 maxwell1295 , 33 dantuyhoa, 34 daacon, 35 Peter Zack, 36 Damn Brit, 37 Borno, 38 Kevint, 39 Peter Zack, 40 Timbo13, 41 daacon, 42 daacon, 43 gawan, 44 dantuyhoa, 45 daacon, 46 Rense, 47 daacon, 48 Rense, 49 borno, 50 Rense, 51 daacon, 52 Peter Zack, 53 Peter Zack, 54 dadipentax, 55 David Whiteley, 56 planedriver, 57 daacon,58 Bramela, 59 daacon, 60 gawan, 61 virgilr, 62 daacon, 63 RickL, 64 Peter Zack, 65 Peter Zack, 66 Causey 67 daacon, 68 Bramela, 69 georgeweb, 70 daacon, 71 seacapt, 72 daacon, 73 AOski, 74 Rense 75 eccs19, 76 daacon, 77 xs400, 78 daacon, 79 Bramela, 80 borno, 81 legacyb4, 82 daacon, 83 gawan, 84 Rense, 85 Peter Zack, 86 davef, 87 davef, 88 xjjohnno 89 Bramela , 90 Peter Zack, 91 daacon, 92 stevebrot ,93 reeftool, 94 jezza323, 95 oldschool, 96 Iris, 97 Rense, 98 planedriver, 99 xs400, 100 Peter Zack, 101 Netuser 102 Photolady, 103 Tamia,

Great start for the week xjjohnno, buildings with a lot of trees hiding them can be difficult, but you've pulled it off beautifully.

Thanks for hosting. I'm one of those northerner's that is crawling out of the winter cave. This winter was really blah here, no interesting snow storms etc to go shoot. Just brown muck and rain much of the time. Seems like I've hardly used my camera for fun in months.

Here's a few from yesterday. I was experimenting with a new to me TC (Quantaray 2x with contacts) attached to a Sigma EX 70-200mm. All three shots were at about 380mm effective. I was pleased with how sharp the combo was.

Street vendor. This guy was selling smoked herring on the sidewalk. Now what struck me was people were walking up and buying a piece of fish (Btw smoked herring is pretty darn good) now look what the box is sitting on...

Well not much from me however I did get out today. I just came back from a two week holiday where there were colors everywhere. Now Like Peter back to my colorless world. The nice thing is the weather has been great lateley, however the dust, dirty snow does not make for the best subjects. On the bright side I may have found a new place for Sunsets and Sunrises Anyway here are few from today ...

Click on image for larger view (brown is the key color here ahhhhhh)

Rense, I like the way that gold foil wrapper looks, I may have to find some foil wrapped eggs to try that, the picture kind of makes me hungry for them

Peter, I really like the clock, and is that sunshine? I hope you don't get that compost smell over the smoked herring. Looks like that 2x TC works pretty well, does that work as autofocus?

Andras, I like your perspective here, those are some great clound reflections in the water!

AOski, You must have woke up with the camera in your hand, the croissant looks great!

Oldschool, hope it's not your yard, I'm ready for spring too.

jezza323, I like the surreal feel to both of those. I look forward to seeing the others. I don't think you could ever see too much of a building like the customs house.

Dave, Spring is coming to Alberta, looks like you're getting out of the gray. Glad to see you out with the camera, looks like you've found some elevation to shoot from, we'll be looking for those sunrises and sunsets. At least it's brown and blue, our weekend was brown and gray with rain. But we started daylight savings time today, so that's an extra hour of daylight after work.

Good shots all! I'm not entirely thrilled with my PP work on these. Suggestions would be welcome...

Dave, Alberta looks oddly like Nebraska. Spring can't come fast enough...

Just a snap at the local Air Force base of a display plane. Taken yesterday.
