Picture of the Week 106: March 14-March 28
Posted By: xjjohnno, 03-20-2010, 04:41 PM

This is the 106th Picture of the Week!

Firstly I'd like to thank Ramsaybuckeye for hosting last week's POTW and inviting me to carry on the torch.

POTW is fun because everyone can post whatever pictures they took that week, and we get variety of great photos. We should start getting even more variety as the Northern Hemisphere residents thaw out and welcome spring. We Southern Hemisphere friends ease into Autumn. Let's shoot!

Feel free to post your photos from this coming week, as well as this last week!

Again same rules and really other than time frames, there are no rules:

1) No theme, just post your favorite pix.

2) Let's keep it to about 4-6 images per post just so the thread doesn't get too big each week.

3) Any Pentax camera or Samsung DSLR is fine, whether it's film, P&S, or DSLR

4) Date: Sunday 14 March 2010 to Sunday 28 March 2010. Enter anything you shot last week or during this current week until the thread closes.

5) The current host will appoint the new host as an invitation via PM. If possible, the new thread will be linked to the previous one and the new thread will start between 12:00EST and 5PM EST on the Sunday. If the thread doesn't start, please contact Peter Zack, Moderator via PM.

Previous hosts: Each one is a hotlink to that POTW thread to look past at the previous 103 weeks. 1 Peter Zack, 2Eaglerapids 3 rmtagg, 4 Peter Zack, 5 daacon, 6 Bramela, 7 mtnbearhug, 8 dantuyhoa, 9 gawan,10 roentarre, 11 daacon, 12 Kris, 13 mtnbearhug, 14 SCGushue, 15 daacon, 16 maxwell1295, 17 dantuyhoa, 18 daacon, 19 maxwell1295 19(2) daacon, 20 Bramela, 21 Syb, 22 maxwell1295, 23 maxwell1295, 24 dantuyhoa, 25 Gawan, 26 Peter Zack, 27 borno, 28 daacon, 29 gawan, 30 Damn Brit, 31 maxwell1295 32 maxwell1295 , 33 dantuyhoa, 34 daacon, 35 Peter Zack, 36 Damn Brit, 37 Borno, 38 Kevint, 39 Peter Zack, 40 Timbo13, 41 daacon, 42 daacon, 43 gawan, 44 dantuyhoa, 45 daacon, 46 Rense, 47 daacon, 48 Rense, 49 borno, 50 Rense, 51 daacon, 52 Peter Zack, 53 Peter Zack, 54 dadipentax, 55 David Whiteley, 56 planedriver, 57 daacon,58 Bramela, 59 daacon, 60 gawan, 61 virgilr, 62 daacon, 63 RickL, 64 Peter Zack, 65 Peter Zack, 66 Causey 67 daacon, 68 Bramela, 69 georgeweb, 70 daacon, 71 seacapt, 72 daacon, 73 AOski, 74 Rense 75 eccs19, 76 daacon, 77 xs400, 78 daacon, 79 Bramela, 80 borno, 81 legacyb4, 82 daacon, 83 gawan, 84 Rense, 85 Peter Zack, 86 davef, 87 davef, 88 xjjohnno 89 Bramela , 90 Peter Zack, 91 daacon, 92 stevebrot ,93 reeftool, 94 jezza323, 95 oldschool, 96 Iris, 97 Rense, 98 planedriver, 99 xs400, 100 Peter Zack, 101 Netuser 102 Photolady, 103 Tamia,

Nice ones to start our new POTW John. Wish we had those birds flying around here freely.

Here's one from me I took this afternoon.

I'll post more once I get them processed.

Thanks. He was only about 10 feet above me. We have lots of oak trees in our yard.

Thanx John for hosting and a great start

Photolady, that's a nice capture! He looks cuddly.

We were visiting my parents this weekend, so I'll throw in a couple of pictures from then.

Thanks John, for hosting this weeks PotW!
Although I am not a regular poster last weeks, I love this thread!

Here are some of yesterday, when we went to 'Narnia - The Musical', executed by the members of the Dutch Reformed Church where my parents-in-law go to.

#1: Father and Mother in Law

#2: My sister in Law (beaver-lady)

#3: Mr. Tumnus, the Faun

#4: The piano player. Not a part of the story, as most of you will know, but hey, what's a musical without music?

#5: Negociations

#6: Happy end

Robin, good shots there though they seem a bit dark to me, I like the Raspberry pie, makes me hungry. Thanks for the compliment.
Rense, Nice photos. I read the book.

And Iris, nice sheep photos. TFS

Now here's a couple I took today, some this morning and some this afternoon after it rained a bit.

Thank you kindly, and yes.. somehow they turned out rather gray-ish when "saved for web" and uploaded. :/ guess I'll have to work em over once again some other time.

Very nice flowerpics!

Oh Iris, the first b/w pic with the sheep in sharp focus, great one!

"Save for Web" I never use that setting because it causes problems. I just use Save as and save them as jpgs.

Thanks for compliment on my flowers. I know people get tired of seeing flowers but there are many different flowers around the world and since they are blooming here, you'll get to see more of mine.

Here's a few shots taken with the K20 and FA 77mm.

My cat, she has me well trained.

Testing the bokeh of the 77mm at f/4.0

Poppies at noon at f/10.0 - hard light makes for bright colors.

Good warranty is important but the people who commissioned Chesterfield Parish Church obviously didn't have it:

The spire was straight for several centuries before it began to twist, probably as a result of using unseasoned timber. It now leans nearly 9ft and is still moving.

Thanks for hosting, Xjjohnno, and appealing starter pix.

Photolady, your squirrel appears very contended -- a lucky fellow/lady for having such productive trees to live in. And your azaleas are beautiful. (I never tire of flower photos!)

Robin, looks like you had a wonderful trip. And raspberry pie! Mmmm.

Rense, great low-light shots. I especially like the piano player's hair and back highlights, and the bokeh.

Iris, your sheep beautifully captured. I love their expressions, and those lambs are adorable.

Frank, now that cat of yours looks regal. Lovely poppies and appealing bokeh/greens in #2.

Steve, Kodachrome, haven't used it in years and K25 was my favorite. Your plum photos are very attractive. Love the color.

Dave, great photo! That spire must cause double-takes from visitors, especially if they've had a pint or two.
