Photo Of The Week March 28 - April 11
Posted By: JeffJS, 04-04-2010, 02:54 AM

This is the 108th Picture of the Week!

I'd like to thank bumbibop for the trust in me, giving me the chance to host this weeks PoTW. I'm relatively new to posting in the Pentax Forums (been over at the other place for awhile)..

POTW is fun because everyone can post whatever pictures they took that week, and we get variety of great photos. This gives everyone a great excuse to pick up the camera, step away from the computer for a minute and go shoot. We're pretty thawed here in the Northern part of the country though some of us are getting pretty wet. Still should be some great shots from some great Pentaxians!

Feel free to post your photos from this coming week, as well as this last week!

Again same rules and really other than time frames, there are no rules:

1) No theme, just post your favorite pix.

2) Let's keep it to about 4-6 images per post just so the thread doesn't get too big each week.

3) Any Pentax camera or Samsung DSLR is fine, whether it's film, P&S, or DSLR

4) Date: Sunday 21 March 2010 to Sunday 4 April 2010. Enter anything you shot last week or during this current week until the thread closes.

5) The current host will appoint the new host as an invitation via PM. If possible, the new thread will be linked to the previous one and the new thread will start between 12:00EST and 5PM EST on the Sunday. If the thread doesn't start, please contact Peter Zack, Moderator via PM.

Previous hosts: Each one is a hotlink to that POTW thread to look past at the previous 103 weeks. 1 Peter Zack, 2Eaglerapids 3 rmtagg, 4 Peter Zack, 5 daacon, 6 Bramela, 7 mtnbearhug, 8 dantuyhoa, 9 gawan,10 roentarre, 11 daacon, 12 Kris, 13 mtnbearhug, 14 SCGushue, 15 daacon, 16 maxwell1295, 17 dantuyhoa, 18 daacon, 19 maxwell1295 19(2) daacon, 20 Bramela, 21 Syb, 22 maxwell1295, 23 maxwell1295, 24 dantuyhoa, 25 Gawan, 26 Peter Zack, 27 borno, 28 daacon, 29 gawan, 30 Damn Brit, 31 maxwell1295 32 maxwell1295 , 33 dantuyhoa, 34 daacon, 35 Peter Zack, 36 Damn Brit, 37 Borno, 38 Kevint, 39 Peter Zack, 40 Timbo13, 41 daacon, 42 daacon, 43 gawan, 44 dantuyhoa, 45 daacon, 46 Rense, 47 daacon, 48 Rense, 49 borno, 50 Rense, 51 daacon, 52 Peter Zack, 53 Peter Zack, 54 dadipentax, 55 David Whiteley, 56 planedriver, 57 daacon,58 Bramela, 59 daacon, 60 gawan, 61 virgilr, 62 daacon, 63 RickL, 64 Peter Zack, 65 Peter Zack, 66 Causey 67 daacon, 68 Bramela, 69 georgeweb, 70 daacon, 71 seacapt, 72 daacon, 73 AOski, 74 Rense 75 eccs19, 76 daacon, 77 xs400, 78 daacon, 79 Bramela, 80 borno, 81 legacyb4, 82 daacon, 83 gawan, 84 Rense, 85 Peter Zack, 86 davef, 87 davef, 88 xjjohnno 89 Bramela , 90 Peter Zack, 91 daacon, 92 stevebrot ,93 reeftool, 94 jezza323, 95 oldschool, 96 Iris, 97 Rense, 98 planedriver, 99 xs400, 100 Peter Zack, 101 Netuser 102 Photolady, 103 Tamia,

Back on land, I was trying a different form on fishing...

and ran across another turtle:

Sunsets are ridiculously good here:

Aloha!

For the past 2 days the temperature has hit the 80's, a very rare event in this part of the country this early in the year. The snow is gone. The ice, which got so thick in early Feb. that fishermen were having difficulty getting their augers through the ice, is off the lakes. I started out with a hike and got this shot of the falls in Corinth, on the upper Hudson. Shot with my reliable old 55/2 Tak. I got the kayak out for my first paddle of the season. I wasn't the only one. A bit of traffic backup at an old beaver dam and some kids taking advantage of the first weekend of trout season. Further upstream, I came across a new obstacle I will have to deal with this year.

Great start to the week all.
John: Interesting set. I like the last one best.
Bumpi: Very cool bike, I was never able to master trials....gotta give you props
Tom: Nice turtles but I really love the 2nd to last shot of the clouds and sun rays.
Reeftool: Gotta love the early warm weather!! Every nice day that we get this early is surely a bonus.

Here is one from earlier today:

I like these threads because they allow me to see the world without ever leaving the house.

Reeftool, Looks like everyone is having a good time escaping the winter blahs.. It's been pretty warm here too. Easter weekend is always a crapshoot when it comes to Weather in Michigan. It's either warm and sunny or we get 8 inches of snow.

tpeace.. Are you actually Under water with the camera (in some sort of housing I would assume) or are you shooting through the water? That fisheye photo is slick.. Don't see too many actual FE photos from cropped Digital cameras. Is that the 10-17? Now you have Me wanting one

bumbibop, Glad to do it. Love that last shot! I hadn't actually read the rules of the last one. None of the photos I posted were from the time frame, or at least I don't think so..

xjjohnno, First I have to ask. Is that Avitar doing what I think it is?? Thumbs up on the shots, particularly the graffiti shot. I'm not a big fan of it or tagging but photos of it are always fun to look at..

I guess I should post some of mine.. Taken this morning.. Detroit River, Wyandotte, Michigan.

You can see the rest of my morning here.. Lenses used are noted in photo titles..

Great shot, John. I prefer steak to snakes and frogs too

Robin - Love the lighting on the bike and boarding shots. Excellent vanishing point road shot also!
xj - Love the tilted look you used on the Pub shot. Exactly how they always look to me - when I'm leaving (well, maybe could be blurry too!)
reeftool - Are you shooting from the kayak? Can't be easy!
nomad - love the landing shot.
Jeff - nice water shots.
borno - Great image to start the day!
OldSchool - I see why the tourists like to visit the Square.
Rense - nice to see you have flowers blooming again.

Jeff, Yes, its an underwatering housing made by SPL. They have a model which fits the K-7. Here's a shot of it (and me) in action.

It's good for depths up to about 5 meters. I really prefer shore line shooting especially surfing action shots, but unfortunately, although I'm here at the surfing capital of the world, there are no waves so this is the Hawaiian surf report:

Have had to strap on the snorkelling gear instead.

The FE is indeed the 10-17. Its a fun lens to shoot with and I felt it was a perfect choice for shooting the lava fields given how sureal they appear.

Yet another sunset shot...

Aloha!
-tom
