k100d kit lens challenge

Since I am saddled with just the kit lens for my k100d I was looking to see what its capable of. No better way to find some good results than to have a friendly contest.

Only rules I can think of are that you should use the k100d kit lens and use no special effects. Make sure you have a link to a full size pic so we can all view the exif data.

Feel free to post multiple entrys. I'd rather not post a time limit since this is all in fun. I suppose we can judge new entrys once every 2 weeks.

We get the crappy sigma 18-55 lens as kit lens in australia coming with k100d. I have not even opened the box of that kit lens as it vignettes so badly that gives you migraine (according to Joele)

BTW what is the kit lens you are refering to?

So....is the goal to post a shot?? This was taken out a car window zipping along about 70 miles an hour with the "crappy kit lens". I'm a cheap date. I like it just fine. (18-55). Not full sized, but the .exif is there.

Are you restricting this to the "kit" lens on K100D only, or can the rest of us play too?

Taken with the DS and DA18-55@38mm, an oldie but one of the few kit lens pictures i have ready for the Net. It's from May last year. Looking at it now I see that I should have processed it a little differently today. No EXIF, sorry for that.

your right, that was pretty crappy of me. Any lens that came with your Pentax is fair game.

Now I gotta go find some subject matter.

I think DA18-55 is great lens for it's money!

Here is nice sample, taken with k100d and crop from it in original size.
EXIF: K100d, DA18-55, 43mm, 1/800, F8, ISO 200, SR=ON
you can check full exif in photo... it was just converted with basic settings in silkypix, without sharpening in crop...

For the money the DA 18-55mm is a great lens. Crisp and clear shots. except when the photographer can't stand still.

I hope the exif data is still here. Just in case it's not
EXIF: Camera: istDL
Lens: DA 18-55mm f3.5-5.6 AL
FL: 35mm at 1/50 sec. f4.5
Center weighted
ISO: 200
Flash: on

Good Shooting.
Cheers: David

Okay, here's what the kit lens (DA 18-55) has done for me on my DL. All have full exif attached, but I'll give you the basics.
First, a sunset. At 18mm there's a fair amount of vignetting, but photoshop takes care of that pretty well. I did a bit of selective levels adjustments to bring out the drama in the sky. Shot raw, 1/250, f11.

Here's another one at 18mm, again shot raw and the vignetting removed in photoshop, along with some major adjustments to deal with the strong backlighting and underexposed face. 1/1500, f5.6 (the horse took me a little by surprise... )

And finally, one at 33mm (no vignetting) shot in jpeg, 1/180, f16.

This is my only zoom lens that covers wide to short tele, so if I'm going somewhere and don't want to cart a bunch of primes around, or changing lenses is problematic (like a beach), I bring the kit lens.

DA 18-55 is the kit lens here. I've posted this before here but I really like the lens, but I'm not fussy!

since I have not had a chance to snap any pics I ill post up a pic from another thread.

Indoors with morning light coming through a
large NW facing window with the vertical blinds opened up 70%.

Camera was set to fully auto in no flash mode. Iso set it self at 800, hand held 1/20 shutter speed. It was taken in RAW and I played around with the lighting in photoshop cs.
