Pentax Webstore Drops Price on M42 to K-mount Adapter

Please forgive me if this has been posted already, I haven't been on the boards in a while.

PENTAX has dropped the price on the M42 to K-mount adapters from $30 to $21.95. Shipping to the CONUS is the usual $6.95 (for items under $50).

This is the best price I've ever seen for a genuine one. Even used.

I'll finally be able to get my hands on some awesome old school Tak glass!

I noticed that price drop as soon as the revised website/webstore was posted. Yes that is a good deal.

I paid $23.11 shipped for a used adapter in January '10. But that was because it was listed as an "Ashai" adapter and had a stock photo taken from the Pentax website.

I've been resisting the temptation of buying one of these for a long time. I'm afraid of opening a whole new can of LBA worms - this is only making it harder

That's true for me too, but at least I can actually afford some of the older lenses. Nothing's worse than having LBA and not being able to even come close to affording the object of your desire. Pure torture.

It doesn't do any of us living north of 49th any good since Pentax USA won't ship to Canada. Maybe there will be some trickle effect in the used market later on.

I've bought stuff through Pentax parts in Mississauga before and they were pretty reasonable, wonder if they would sell them?

B&H has it for 24.95 - at least that looks like they are calling it the PENTAX brand adapter

That sux! Another post on this thread says that a Canadian store called Henry's sells them for $90. That's INSANE.

IIRC, there are some people on here who bought generic ones from the 'Bay and Adorama/B&H said they worked almost as well as the genuine ones, including focusing to infinity (had to make sure the adapter did NOT have the flange, I think I remember reading). A search should turn up the thread. I think there were a couple of links directly to the the ones they said worked fine.

From my own experience, used ones are HARD to come by. But, I did just see there was an ad in the Marketplace, within the last 7 days, where one of the items being sold was a used genuine M42 adapter for $36, I believe. What I don't remember is if the seller was restricting sale to just the CONUS, or willing to ship international.

I wrote all this out just in case it could help somebody.
