Pentax Compact Camera Post Processing Contest #10

The Rules

1. Have Fun!

2. Use any Post Processing Software and techniques.

3. Entries will close on April 30th, 2013.

4. Maximum image dimensions for entries are 1024x768 pixels

5. Max of 3 image entries per person. Entries may be withdrawn or changed

6. List software used, as well as your method, with your entry so we can all learn.

7. There are no limits or restrictions - make the subject image into whatever you want!
But please do not copy or alter other entries....

Already at the 10th run of this event.
Still not as widely known as the p&s contest, though.

For this contest, I thought I'd bring another "challenge" to the table.
Last time I did this, the image suffered from a lack of light. This time, one could say there was an excess of light, amongst other things




Let's see what you can do with it.

I like the patterns & textures on the house, so this seemed a good candidate for a toned B&W treatment. It seemed the other parts of the scene around the house detracted from the detail in the house, so I cropped it to focus on the house. I used Sagelight Image Editor, starting with Topaz B&W Effects 2 to make a selenium-toned version, implementing a green filter to help bring out some textures and mute the water. Then I used the Sagelight CLAHE default filter, blended with the B&W toned original, to bring out more detail, while trying to not over-do it.

Then using Faststone Image Viewer, I resized to 1000 pixels wide, sharpened a little, and added the ragged edge to give it even more of an aged effect.

I opened PS but dinner was served so i just did some presets from PerfectPhotosuite plug-ins

-polarizer
-darker midtones
-clarity
-colorchrome

Okay Bart, here's my first go at it...
Softened the background on a separate layer and darkened it up a bit around the structure, then added a little lens flare to it.
Increased the color and contrast of the foreground... that's about it.
Sort of a dark & dreamy effect...

Nice job Clicker! Very bold.

Okay... here's my next one... I just converted it to B&W and gave it some texture using some embossing & posterized edging techniques, then gave it a touch of Sepia toning.

There are some great effects so far. My favorite is still todds (but he missed the ufos)
