K5...manual video control?

I may be missing it ...but did anyone hear whether we can do manual video control?
And i guess the high speed shutter 1/250 was a no go

I don't even know if it focuses during video. Probably no or limited manual controls.
I believe there are limitations in implementing ones as with video it depends more on sensor, than camera design. E.g. camera shutter doesn't get involved, probably Pentax aperture mechanism doesn't allow dynamic variation, only Fire->Prime function for quick operation. And since the sensor is not made by Pentax, and the adc (then the amplifier as well) resides on sensor, you dont know what constraints it has on shuttering/sensitivity control with continuous readout.

I was told that it doesn't support manual via web chat support:

I'd much prefer manual controls over af in video

Same with the Canon 7D and Nikon D7000
Quite standard for Still Cameras with Video capability.

The 7D and D7000 both do the standard cinema's 24fps.

with my k-7 the main reason for wanting full manual was to control the awful iso noise but hopefully with this newer camera it won't be such an issue.

I use sometimes the FA*85mm and with that lens I can change aperture on the ring on the lens during filming.

I think that the speed of the PRIME II processor is the limiter of the only 25 frames with full HD movie.

The main reason most of us are intersted in manual video control is to control the shutter speed.

Now you have me thinking about how K-5 low light 1080p videos would look since my K-7 videos had too much iso noise in low light.

The problem is that if you want to make your video in 24p, you will need to do some re-encoding of your 25p to 24p. This could be as simple as conforming your master to 24p; this would slow down the video a bit (24p-conformed video would run 4% longer than 25p source).

In short, for the average Joe with no serious movie editing skills, this difference shouldn't matter, as they wouldn't care much. However, for those trying to do serious editing, especially with multiple cameras, keeping the video synced becomes a slight issue that requires extra work in post.

do you think, by any chance, that the Firmware will be upgraded (on or after its release) to support Manual Exposure and different frame rates?

It's just awfully crippled. Very limited video controls for a Flagship camera.

I, too, am VERY curious if Pentax would be likely to a firmware upgrade to support 24fps video. Anyone think this may be likely? I really hope so, as I really would like to purchase this camera.
