K-x Firmware 1.02

This latest update only has support to SDXC memory cards documented. As I don't use SDXC I may skip this firmware unless there are any other improvements?
Anyone did the update? Any changes noticed?

cheers,
d

This is common Pentax practice, do not announce all changes in new firmware, or do silent FW changes without any info. I have compared binary old 1.01 and new firmware, changes not so small as for add SDXC support only, so I hope new 1.02 can contain another hidden improvements. Flashed it.

So did you upgrade to 1.02? Any noticeable changes?

Firmware update V1.01 was awesome, with the battery indicator fix and the cross processing feature refinement. But I think I will skip 1.02 if it has nothing more than a card format support which I do not use.

Unfortunately, I think that this FW 1.02 can be last update for k-x from Pentax. Look to k-m, it has not been updated with SDXC support at all.

turn it on while pressing the MENU button

if it is v1.0 than an update is a must

Although their description appears to show that it's mostly benign, I applied to update anyway for completeness. Like others have said it's probably the last we'll see for the model.

1.02 doesn't seem to have made any further improvement over 1.01 in battery types recognition reliability and ongoing power use efficiency. That's what I was hoping for.

Wish I could buy an adapter to fit a K-r battery to my K-x too. That would be the perfect solution.

I got your point, but I don't intend to rush into it. Camera is working perfectly for me and the firmware link will be up there for ages. I will have time in the future if someday I get to the extra-large cards. Until that day the 1.01 will be just fine.

Firmware 1.01 did the trick for me. Battery indicator for Ni-Mh is now working precise as it should. Battery type recognition was working as expected from day one already on the 1.0 firmware.

You wish an K-x adapter for K-r Li-Ion battery? Such thing does not exist and never will.

cheers,
d

I flashed FW 1.02 as soon as it was out. It seems that the only change made is really just the support for SDXC cards. I haven't noticed any other changes.

There are two schools of thought
if it ain't broke....
or for a lot of computer savvy -
update to the latest.

IMHO it's better to be safe and conservative -
wait to see experiences of updates
also wait until the US (or one's home) site has the same update -
that way a file compare (eg: ExactFile) can be done
(for the cautious paranoids)
before flashing one's own camera......

Ah.... but which 1.01?

1.01.00.05
1.01.00.07
or
1.01.00.10?

Honestly: I don't know which 1.01.xx.xx version.

It was the one I downloaded from the German site.
