Battery for K10d

I see mutiple listings for batteries for the K10d for the D-LI50, but many differ as far as the amps. My original is listed as 7.4 V and 1620mAh.

Does anyone have any pro's cons's about purchasing generic batteries from Ebay? Any aftermarket batteries less expensive out there, and if so, where to purchase?

Thanks
David

I got my K10D just recentley and am assured you can get a INCA NP400 for au$50-60 that is perfect match for the camera - i havent looked at the amps or anything but the guys at diamonds in adelaide sure seem to know what they were talking about - I didnt get the spare battery on the spot but will get it in a few months i imagine, i have seen the INCA NP400 for sale at 49.95 since i got the camera so i would be confident about the price

re the volts and amps... with electricity the volts are what it gives the camera and the amps are what the camera draws and then there is the time it will last... so you NEED to get the same volts but the amps can be more... as long as it meets the MINIMUM that the camera will need... naturally the type of battery will also play a big part on it in terms of how long the battery lasts...

good luck

Impact | DL150 Rechargeable Lithium-ion Battery | DL150 | B&H

I've been using one of those along with the stock battery since I got my camera back in May. So far so good.

The NP-400 batteries are lower amp than the stock Pentax battery even though they do fit.

yea thats ok ennacac - the thing is they last just fine, still get HEAPS of shots out of them - and can recharge the stock battery in less time then it takes to use up all the juice in the NP400...

personally i find it perfectaly acceptable due to the price decrease... ie, i can get NEARLY three NP400 batteries for the price of a single pentax origional...

but its good to know that the amp's is different and still works fine... when you say lower amps i think you mean actual amp hours not amps...

but all good - nice to hear lots of people using them :-)

Note that "mAh" is milliamp hours, a different measurement from amps (or milliamps). An amp is a measure of actual current, whereas amp hours tells you the capacity.

This is important because while wrong amperage or voltage may be a cause for concern, a higher or lower "mAh" just means it's slightly bigger or smaller in nominal size. I say nominal because in practice (especially in third-party batteries) the labels tend to be far off from reality and can vary significantly from battery to battery.
