…but don't expect to get a digital preview on your computer screen before you take the shot. You can, though, get most, if not all of the camera functions referred to the screen, and it will allow you to view a test shot in a small window (and save it), so it isn't totally useless.

Using Adobes Lightroom or other programs will give you a larger preview. Lightroom has a specific feature in the File menu for this but you have to use Remote assistant. Fortunately, it's free

A good feature is that you can choose an image to be automatically saved to a specified location. Watch this location with an image viewer (such as Picasa) and they will be automatically be made available for viewing.

download it off pentax's site...just google for it.

btw, anyone get pentax remote assistant working w/ Vista? When I plug my K20D in, it shows up as a new hard drive and PRA doesn't see it

Surprisingly enough, I installed RA3 (Ver 3.5) and ran the K20D with no issues. I even forgot I was running Vista. What version did you try?

I downloaded 3.51 and tried it yesterday. Even tried rebooting Vista w/ no luck.
When you plug it in, does your K20D show up as an extra hard drive?

I tried setting the K20D in Pictbridge mode as well, but then it definitely came in as a hard drive. No idea why PC mode is coming in as a hard drive for me. I'm on a thinkpad if that matters.

Grrr...tried it on another system running XP and it works fine.

I think with the new wireless USB adapters, we actually can run wireless tethered at even higher speed than using a wifi adapter. Takes roughly 5sec to transfer the image file over.

Kenyee, you have to open up PRA as the administrator. Right click the desktop icon and open "Properties" and set it.

Thanks, Jeff. I should have know stupid Vista UAC was causing this :-P
I'm surprised the installer doesn't set it up so that it always runs w/ Administrator access. I modified the desktop icon so it'll do this in the future.
