K7 Video limit

My 1536x1024 *** videos are only 2.24GB for a 7 minute duration video.

It can of course continue to make clips until card is full. And all will be 7:23 if there are at least 4GB of free space left on card.

I go with the countdown timer on the LCD for my videos and I don't have a problem with it since I have my Canon TX1 to shoot 14 minute (4GB) 720p HD video clips if I need to go that long in one clip . BTW LV has a 5 minute limit (K-7 manual) so LV is the big limiting factor IMHO.

How soon after the last clip is taken before the camera allows you to begin a new clip on the same card (assuming adequate space remains)?

Yes. But the K-7 in 720p **-quality should still rival the Canon and does 13 min in one clip as well. So, another camcorder isn't required, actually

On the other hand, there is no such thing as too much gear

LV has a 5 minute limit. But I don't know if it applies to movie mode too (pressing LV in movie mode shows a text screen but doesn't end it). And the LV limit is definitely non effective during movie recording.

True. The faster the card the shorter the delay. It is about 2s with a Sandisk Extreme III.

I am lost with this whole "can't actually record what it says it can" thing. I just got an 8gig 30MBs sandisk card (which I am 90% sure it is legit) and I can only record 9'42" on 0.9M with highest quality. Before I record it says I can do 19'08". I have turned off audio, filters, lens correction etc (I even turned off shake reduction) and I have a full battery. So what is going on here?

you must be 100% certain. 90% shows still shows some uncertainty.

Here is something interesting though. I just tested my sandisk 2gig ultra II plus card and it does actually record what it initially calculates. So maybe it has something to do with SDHC cards??

correct. the sad part is, that clone SDHC are now everywhere. if you think that your card looks authentic, then you should take a look at this. >>> eBay Canada Guides - SanDisk 3D Holographic Sticker Unique Serial Number
