Here's the first half-decent photo (shot in manual at f/5.6, 1/30, ISO 200, 40 mm from about 2.5 meters) I got with the Hanimex in a fairly dark room ... I have the manual coming in the mail; so I'll have a better idea of how to use this old pro flash once I get it, but it works pretty well in auto mode ... all advice appreciated ... have taken 30 shots so far and is hasn't fried my camera yet; so full speed ahead!

cool ... here's another

very cool to hear ... glad others are having a good experience with the Safe Sync ... meanwhile I got the Hanimex manual from photobooksonline.com (they reprint old manuals; so it's brand new), practiced at home some more, then did about 150 shots at a field shoot last night and the flash worked well - except it certainly takes more work to use than more modern flashes (e.g., x-sync shutter speed for the K200D is 180; so I need to do everything at that speed) ... I've attached a rather nice pic I took of a Boston, MA City Council candidate (ISO 200, 118 mm, 180, f 13 with the Hanimex on auto mode 1, dual flash activated, main flash set for telephoto) ... I'll definitely keep practicing with it ...
