Holy $h!t!! is exactly what I said after seeing the first image that came out of my brand new Pentax K-7 last night. I shoot a lot of high end real estate, and most of them have exterior views, so the possibility of in-camera HDR was HUGE for me. But I was skeptical, knowing from experience how difficult and time consuming it is to get a natural looking yet effective HDR the "old fashioned" way. But I'll be damned, it actually works! And on top of that this camera will also correct for lens distortion in camera (I tested this too, it also works as advertised), and finally in-camera horizon and tilt indicators!!! Simply the dream camera for photographing interiors. My job just got a WHOLE lot easier, thank you Pentax! Now if you could only figure out how to make a camera autofocus like the competition, I would have about $30k worth of Canon gear to put on eBay!!

Nice one! That has to be one of the best uses of the in camera HDR i have seen. It's not arty... it's useful!

Out of interest, how dod it handle the white balance in HDR mode?

I have noticed more and more photoshop work in the local realestate paper. A lot of it is completely fake looking.... but good enough for 'joe average'.

Can you poat a blown crop at 100%? I ask as naturally one could do this in pping but it creates MASSIVE amounts of noise and I'm keen to see what the camera can do.

I'm not sure how to or why I would want to post a blown crop at 100% (I am not a "pixel peeper"), but I will tell you that I regularly produce and publish HDRs that I generate manually from my Canon 5D2 and Photomatix software, and I shoot this type of work at low ISOs, expose properly and process cleanly so there is no noise. And fortunately the same can be said of the low ISO HDRs from the K-7, they are clean, assuming I get the exposure right.

This is really good news for those who plan on upgrading to K-7. Also, the automatic lens correction as you mentioned is really icing on the cake. Waiting for any price promotion or something to get in now....

What len(s) do you use for most of your interiors? Is the Pentax 12-24mm one of them?

Faster AF, better low-light AF, better metering system, cool green top LCD, 3.0 inch LCD, LCD has 920,000 pixels, CA and distortion correction, electronic leveling, more frames per second, and HD video recording.

Make that 10:0

Well, the lens I use most for interiors is the Canon 17-40L on my 5D Mark II.. Last night was my first real estate gig with my new K-7, and yes the 12-24 also. It is really the only choice as the distortion correction only works with Pentax lenses.
