I just stumbled on this new version of the K7 ... version 1.02. Looking at the Pentax site, one would think that v.101 is replacing v.1.02!!?? I have v.1.01, so I am just wondering what this it exactly.

Here's where I got the info:
Pentax Canada - K-7

This version does this:
Changes to V1.02
■Added [Fine Sharpness 2] which makes image outlines even sharper than [Fine Sharpness] to the Sharpness setting of Custom Image. How to select [Fine Sharpness 2], Click Here.
■Improved total image processing performance at the particular shooting condition or setting such as preview image quality at the "Water Color & Pastel" of Digital Filter mode.
■Improved stability for general performance such as with Battery Grip D-BG4, the rear e-dial may rarely become unstable in particular shooting condition.
It is the Candian Pentax site, but I wouldn't think it matters much.

V 1.02 was actually a publicised firmware update, which a number of camera web-sites highlighted.
There were a few "unofficial" firmware updates made available before that, but V 1.02 incorporates all the changes to date, so you don't have to worry about the earlier ones.
