Thanks folks for the condolences, it's difficult right now but photography (and mindless work) helps...

Love the snow on the tree limb on this one - makes for great contrast!

Thank you.

I just scanned and processed a roll from the after-memorial at our house... lots of spotting for dust, adjustment for tone, and then sharpening - on the full 2400 dpi image, I usually do unsharp mask at around radius 3.1-3.4 pix, at least 10x that in threshold (i.e. ~38 or more pix) and 60-90% to help the scanner's pick up of highlights. Then a .2 radius, ~10pix threshold and 180% finishing one. After resize I apply this last finishing sharpen again.

MX, M 50/1.7, Tri-X at 640 (though I metered maybe twice the whole roll), D-76 1:1, Epson 4490. Random guests, though the last one has my wife in it

Deepest condolences, Nesster.

Here are couple from last weekend, out of the 645 on Ilford Delta 100.

Shot from a sailboat one morning. The sun was rising behind a bank of low clouds.

That's my nephew whose 21st birthday it was. So I gave him the MX after I finished this roll of Tri-X. The MX was just back from Eric's CLA.

Hassy SWC / Ilford film / c1970's.

Sorry, still do not know how to spot, dodge or burn. But did learn how to crop and do some contrast. Here is a half-assed image anyway.

My goal is to spend at least 5 hours a week learning this stuff. But also have to spend time scanning the old negs. Time is always an issue! (And getting 6 x 6 negs to scan is a crap shoot! Scanner cuts them in half most of the time.)

Well maybe some mod can fix it up for me. Have them click on the attachment or something with a warning.

I'm an old cruster, don't have any job to answer to...my only job is to work hard to be a good slacker.

That's a generous gift, I hope he appreciates it & puts the camera to good use.
