Inlaws gave me their ME

My inlaws know I enjoy photography and that I have a pair of Pentax bodies and tonight they gave me their ME Super, M 50/f2, CPC 2X tele-converter MC P/K, and AF200S flash. Too bad I just sold my M 50/1.4, but I still have my A50/1.4. Probably hasn't been used in at least 11 years or so. My sister in law used it for a photography class in high school, but she graduated over 10 years ago.

Pretty pumped about it. I love the look and feel of the old film bodies. Just something about shooting with something like this you don't get with the newer film cameras. There's really nothing exciting about my ZX-30 and it's crippled mount system.

Any particular film work better than others in these older cameras?

Camera and the lens pictured are in fantastic shape. A light drizzle started to fall as took these and there are a few drops on the camera and lens that look like blemishes.

Congrats!

A properly working ME Super should be able to handle any film with an ISO of 12 - 1600. It's more of a question on how good you are able to understand center weighted metering and the film's characteristics that will determine your results.

Try none. My only film experience was with the ZX-30 and used that camera to learn more about composition, exposure, metering, and aperture vs shutter speed. It was my first "real" camera and I spent a lot of time with it in Germany, but I mostly shot 100-400 film and I never spent the time I should have to learn film characteristics, etc.

Well modern film have latitude to spare like the Kodak BW400CN - BW with the convenience of standard C41 processing . . .

Or Kodak Portra 400 color C41 . . .

I have other such examples from Fuji 100, Kodak Gold 100, TMAX and Tri-X and they are all extremely forgiving. With the extreme latitude of these films - as well as great quality, you should be able to create some beautiful images with your new acquisition.

I had a roll of Kodak 400 B&W and I'll run that through and start some homework on the film. I'll take any suggestions or resources.

I'm hoping to find some time soon to run this little gem. This thing has sort of rejuvenated my desire to work with film.
