P.S.: doing my research these days I read somewhere (Wikipedia?) that the 50mm Pentax-A lens was introduced in 1983. This camera has the previous lens, the 50mm Pentax-M (as can be seen by the aperture ring below, lacking the A-position and little button after the 22). Assuming the lens on this camera is the original one that was sold with it (reasonable), then this camera should be from 1983 or earlier. That's the best guess I could arrive at so far for its age.

With a 7 5xx xxx serial number this camera should be from the latter part of the 1970'es. Of course, your other K1000 broke the pattern so who knows

Ole, thanks for the response. I'm sorry I missed it when you posted it. I came to the same conclusion when I found a prior edition of your posted database. As mentioned, I had purchased the K1000 second hand. I was tickled to think that the camera was made in '83 as that was the year I graduated high school. Two years later, my dad gave me an ME Super (which I still have and am currently shooting

edit- I'm assuming it was purchased in the late 70's, it has the f2 50mm kit lens so I know it was before 83, My dad bought this camera brand new so I'll ask him and see if he remembers, He was still in Detroit when he bought it (he has a bunch of slides from downtown), him and my mom moved to NC in 82, so right now lets say its >82.
