Old Pentax Flashgun for K100D

I see many ancient Pentax flashguns on fleabay. I know they operate in different voltage levels, and sometimes hazardous to newer DSLR, not to mention that they surely did not have as many feature as the digitalized flashguns. But, they're cheap, easy to find, and that I need nothing but something to shed some light whenever I shot at night, so that I wouldn't dry my camera batteries using the internal flash.

Suggestions, please

Yes, I second that. Great flash. Used it with my K100D all the time.

Yep, the P:entax AF280T is reliable, has a good auto mode, won't fry your camera, and will serve you well. The AF200T should be good too, although it lacks the pan-tilt head and packs even less power.

They are in the accessorie reviews.

The 200 is at: PENTAX AF 200T - Pentax Accessory Review Database - Flashes, Grips, Camera Bags and the 280 is at PENTAX AF 280T - Pentax Accessory Review Database - Flashes, Grips, Camera Bags. Just click on either of these and they'll take you right to them.

I have 3 of the 280's and 1 of the 200's and I love em. I use them on and off camera using either 5p cords and F shoes or my wireless (third party) set up. To the best of 'my' knowledge they are the only 2 pentax flash units that have a sensor built in that enables the units to "read" the lighting and accordingly adjust the amount of light they put out.

+ the handle mount Pentax AF400T.

And of course the current 540 and 360 (I know they may be out of the scope of this thread).

Back to the OP...

Why limit yourself to Pentax flash units? I'm using many old flashes. Except for 2 copies of the current 540, all of my flash units are non-Pentax.

I recommend: Nikon SB 24/25/26/28; Sunpak 30DX, 36DX, 422D, 433D, 444D, 383 Super (or its clone Quantaray 383); Vivitar 3700, 5200, 5600. If you don't mind handle mount flashes, add Metz 45CL-4, Sunpak 555, Sunpak 622.

All of these have safe voltage, and have light sensor for auto mode, and can bounce & swivel.
