Observation of differing marketing approaches in various regional distribution areas.

Pentax Global

Try to find the K-01 on the various Pentax websites. Try to find it on the front page first. If you can't, count the number of clicks necessary until you can find it.

Pentax USA - The banner head sweeps and can be scrolled manually in LR corner. The news link next to the date can be scrolled manually by cliking the arrows. It opens on a random date, not necessarily today.

Pentax Canada - (English) K-01 featured in banner head is apparently fixed.

Europe - Note that the banner head dissolves to a different featured product every few seconds.

Pentax China - link in English on front page

Pentax Japan - (English) K-01 might not be released yet for Japan. They may be holding it for CP+, which is featured

I didn't find Pentax Australia or Pentax Russia linked from the Pentax Global website, though they all seem to share the root pentax.com. Is there a business reason for that?

Why isn't this image from Pentax Canada on the USA website?

Obviously, I don't know the differing planned release dates (if any) - but there is certainly a difference.between the websites.

Pentax in Canada is still reasonably well known and while sales will be a fraction of what it could be in the US, distribution and marketing are much cheaper and easier. Pentax can't afford (yet) to properly promote a release there, so the rest of the operation doesn't receive the oversight it should and this results in the disarray we are witnessing there.

Maybe it's time to consolidate all Pentax websites worldwide and beef them up for better brand image and much wider audiences.

Can't do that when Penax USA offers different models than the rest of the world (stormtrooper K-01 vs. the silver K-01).

Well there may be disarray in actual distribution, Pentax Canada is the only one I've found that places the K-01 prominently in the banner head.
