Imaging-Resource Hands-on Preview

As usual, Imaging-Resource did a great job of explaining the new features of the Pentax K-3.

They explain the Bayer-AA-filter simulator complete with a sound file letting you hear the system at work.

They make very nice observations, such as the utility of the new four-way controller buttons shapes:
"And all four Arrow buttons now have raised triangular bevels at both ends, making it easier to tell when your finger is centered on the button, and letting you press the corners of adjacent buttons together. That lets you make a diagonal selection, so that for example you can scroll diagonally in an image when using playback zoom."
Great job, Mike Tomkins and Dave Etchells!

Great job, Pentax!

If you prefer focusing manually, you'll find a new focus peaking function in live view mode to be a very handy addition.

Hellooooooooooooo lady. I hope they didn't copy and paste that from somewhere else, because that's a nice confirmation to have.

Matt Granger (formerly That Nikon Guy) is pretty excited about the K-3 specs:

I've always thought that Pentax get the details right, and are designed by photographers. Hence, the removable section of the lens hoods to facilitate the use of a polarising filter, and the space for a spare SD card in the battery grip. Now, I think they are getting the big things right as well.

Sorry - I've ordered a K-3, but I'm keeping my D800, at least until that fabled Pentax FF emerges.

For Pentax? They don't really it's just the initial testers are nearer the Asian market than the USA.
