In addition to the similar Leica "issue" reported by its users and noted, above, Kodak supplies the sensor for the Leica M9, NOT Sony.
Perhaps Pentax's 'quick and dirty' firmware fix, like Leica's, will simply be to raise the AF threshold for shutter activation to the point that OOF images in very low light can't be taken. This will buy them some time to fine tune their AF system for the next round of hardware up-grades.
From time to time, software is upgraded and the developers charge for a nominal fee to current users. If Pentax was to produce a firmware fix that results in an awesome increase in low light AF sensitivity for the K-5, would you be willing to pay for that increased capability? If yes, how much is the fix worth to you?
