Lens unlock button missing

Went to change a lens on the K5 today and to my surprise the button you push to change the lens was gone. Anyone else have this problem. wonder if it's covered under the warranty?

as far as I know, you are the second one to report this in this forum. Definitely not normal and should be covered under warranty.

Yep, I had this happen to me and it's pretty unnerving--see here. I'm waiting to get the camera back from CRIS.

FYI, you can use something thin to release the lens: I used a safety pin (after cutting the tip off to make sure it would be sufficiently blunt.)

As a proud K5 owner, with no problems...yet...I sure hate to hear these kind of stories. They just shouldn't happen! Best of luck on a speedy repair.

Ouch, sorry to see that's happened. It will definitely be covered by warranty though, hopefully you had a good lens sutck on there so you could keep shooting

I am likely the 'other' one to report this problem Pentax covered it on warranty here in Sweden no problem. I used a small wood stick to press the release while waiting for the part to come in (a couple of weeks) and it worked fine, if a little slow and awkward.

Good luck!

Not necessarily....maybe just a small batch of bad parts? If it was a flawed design I would think it would be more common that one or two reports here?

We do have to remember that as with most all products, the winning bid usually goes to the lowest bidder. We are lucky we are only using cameras, not flying in space shuttles......

Regards!

Rupert I never thought I'd say this but you've become a voice of sanity here

Happened to me as well. In my bag. I popped it back on without thinking about it— big mistake. Spent a good hour with my sister looking for it on the trail.

Hopefully the successor won't have these issues.

Any reports of it happening on the K-7?

This also happened to my K5 about a month ago. Fortunately, I found the button and was able to re install it.

I now have a narrow strip of black duct tape covering the button on both my K5 and KX - just a precaution.

Hey guys, go easy, you are making me feel insecure. Sanity and Rupert should never be used in the same sentence.......the world is already upside down, don't confuse people any more than necessary!
Otis? I think Otis is the most sane of us all...look at his life of luxury and abounding freedom.....damn Squirrel has it better than any of us.

Best Regards!
