Perhaps I've been reading too many posts but I obtained a four year extended warranty for my K-5 and a lifetime warranty on the 18-135 lens. If you own insurance stock, I say sell!

I saw that you can get an extended warranty in Florida and yet when I contacted Pentax, this is the answer I got:

"Thank you for contacting Pentax.

Florida statutes concerning extended warranties apply to companies based in Florida. Florida prohibits these companies from selling the warranties. You can purchase the K-5 extended warranty, for up to 30 days from the purchase date, from PENTAX directly (or from an online PENTAX dealer) because we are not a Florida-based company. PENTAX RICOH IMAGING AMERICAS is the US warranty representative for PENTAX and is based in Denver, Colorado. To purchase the warranty from us please call the technical support center at the number below.

If you are in need of further assistance, please respond to this email or call our technical support center at 800-877-0155."

What does this mean? Anyone?

In Canada, we have a 2 years warranty included.

You can buy it from Amazon.Com if you are within 30-90 days of your purchase and its less than at B&H or Adorama. It does NOT have to be purchased from the same seller per conversations with Pentax Imaging USA.

The warranty conditions seem to vary depending on the market. In the Nordic countries all Pentax gear is covered by a two year warranty. At least we get some compensation for the higher prices we pay here

I bought mine after it failed due to mirror flops and was repaired. I got the camera through B&H but the warranty through Adorama. At the time they sold the warranty to anyone and there was some question to its validity. However, a representative from Adorama posted that it would be honored to those that purchased it during this time frame. For $20 it seems like a good deal.
