Has anyone heard when this lens will be available. I have purchased the FA 35 and 120 macro and they are excellent but wondering when the new 25 will be in shops.

Thanks
Tim

The Pentax store in the US offers it. It has been on sale in Japan. A number of members have a copy.

No news on this in The Netherlands so far. But some other lenses are now available (120mm macro, 35mm, 80-160mm and 300mm/f5.6 for instance)

Thanks for the info. I have emailed a couple of dealers about availability as I have not seen it on any of the online store. I was able to pick up an FA 35 and 120 macro and have seen a lot of the other FA lenses as well.

I've had one on pre-order since May in Canada. I was told ETA was originally in May/June. I have not been given an updated ETA. Back in June, after a few emails asking about the delay, I received a comment that Pentax is focusing on some quality control improvements. Personally - that is fine by me - I'd much rather have such things all sorted out by Pentax, rather than an earlier delivery.

25mm availability

according to one of my store guys, Pentax is having some issues sourcing materials for one of the lens elements so it may be awhile for more copies of it to be in the stores ...

There is one seller on E-bay, he declares to have 2 units in stock, at a pretty high price :

In case anyone is interested in buying from that eBay buyer - I bought a 25mm from them 2 weeks ago (and $400 less then the price they have listed). It took 11 days from payment for it to arrive, and it's in great shape.

Got mine today from the same dealer and saved hundreds from what I would have paid here.

A friend of mine has had a 25mm on order for some time with the Pentax online store. They have been promising delivery in early September. When he contacted Adorama a couple of days ago to inquire about their inventory situation, he was told the lens has now been discontinued. A bummer, if true.

MMmm... This would mean the end of the entire 645D line.

Not necessarily. Not everyone has a need for ultrawide. It all depends on shooting style. I find that for landscape/field work I can easily stitch two or more frames with my 35 or 55mm lenses, with quite good success. For some interior and architectural applications stitching is a bit more difficult but not impossible.

If the rumors are true of supply chain problems or QC issues, Hoya may have simply decided to wait and let Ricoh own the problem.

The Pentax reps have been going to the dealers here and demoing the lens and assuring deliveries in the next few weeks so doubt if is cancelled. I think like all suppliers there were issues after the earthquake.

I ordered the 25/4 when buying the 645D back in June. At that time, I was told the lens can be expected within 3 months. Mid July, when asking Pentax about the status, I was told 3-6 months because of production problems due to the earthquake. This week when asking again, I was told the first batch of 25/4mm lens for Europe is scheduled for Spring...

Finally, I ordered this week one from this ebay seller, which is also way cheaper than what I would have paid here, and cancelled the order in my usual store. I hope to get the lens before end of September when leaving for a trip to Namibia...
