pentax dslrs have a "crippled" mount, this means that lenses without an A setting can only meter stopped down (using the green button for example). with slrs (apart from the ist* i think) you can see the metered values directly when you change aperture on the aperture ring, just like you do with the dial on the camera using modern lenses (that have at least A setting).
put this back on a small FF dslr with a split screen available, a good sensor and good AF, a big viewfinder, and a good jpg engine, and i don't need anything else!
