Hirakawa Jun back to Pentax/Ricoh?

Hirakawa Jun, the brilliant lens designer responsible for FA 85mm, FA 43, 77 ltd (and partial 31mm ltd) and several other FA* lenses (Hirakawa Jun - Camerapedia) rumor to be back with Pentax/Ricoh.

He was "retired" when Hoya took over Pentax. If this is true, this is really an exciting news for Pentaxian -- Maybe he was back to design FF lenses?

See this from a Taiwan Pentax forum. Source of news: 2??,?????.-PFC - Pentax Fans Club

A really good news than all the recent announcements. Could he be involve in the limited zoom design?

Interesting. That would be good news, indeed. I wonder who else might have been rehired. Hirakawa Jun certainly is the most well known here. Thanks for the link but I only saw a bunch of squiggly lines.

This does lend a lot of credence to Ricoh's announced intention to rebuild Pentax's lens offerings, although this should have happened the day after the purchase. Better late than never....

Maybe it is time to redesign those LTDs with the new HD coating and modern AF movement.... And maybe even weather sealing.....

Get them ready for the new 36MP FF K-1

Pentax needs to get a lot done before they can launch an FX system, so this is great news!

But he didn't design the 31mm... He designed the 43mm though. Great that he's back if its true.

Original Poster
The original poster said it was a mistake. He thought that was a new patent but apparently is some kind of giving out/separate his right of the DA10-17 design.
