Firmware Update V1.06 for K-5II/K-5IIs

Apparently the V1.06 firmware update for the K-5II/K-5IIs is meant to fix the instability introduced by V1.05.

Who had issues with 1.05 and tried 1.06? Just curious to see if the issue went away...

Just for the record I am not updating to 1.05 OR 1.06 yet. My camera works fine for the moment with 1.04.

It ain't freaking Windows or Adobe I need to keep updating. - My thoughts.

Cheers!

Brave soul.

I didn't upgrade to V1.05 because frankly I have no idea why new coatings would require an update to the CDAF, I don't intend to get any new HD lens, and do not intend to get one of the new "GZII" flashes either. So there seems to be nothing to be gained except for the introduction of a problem that hitherto didn't exist.

The latter is what may have happened with V1.05 as some users reported problems after they had updated. Given the relatively quick V1.06 follow-up, it seems plausible that indeed something needed to be addressed.

Not sure whether "Improved stability for general performance" is enough of an incentive for me to fully trust V1.06, given that I don't have any issues with my V1.04. The latter fixed a bug that I actually observed happening.

Hopefully, some are keen on the published improvements and will report whether there are any unpublished improvements as well.

If only one could downgrade then upgrading wouldn't be the slightly risky one-way street it currently is.

Well the explicitly say they corrected the 1.05 instability.

"Corrected – Unstable performance may rarely occur in firmware version 1.05."

Perhaps fixing the battery voltage issue causing the camera not to turn on?

DITTO++ (If it exists in any dictionary). In fact I plan to skip 4-5 different versions. Unless someone really makes a point.

Cheers!

Its also to make the camera recognize the lens ID and do appropriate in-camera corrections (of CA, distortion). Sure, if you are not planning on using those lenses and flashes, you might not need it. But! The update might also include silent fixes, things they dont tell us about.
