I hate thread titles that give no indication of what they're about.

I don`t think the specs are complete, there are a lot of comma`s in the specs if you look closely.

K-5, K-5 II, K-5 IIs.

Their ISO 80 helped them trump the competition in DxOMark tests.

OK, thanks.. Obviously you must be right as you have a K-5. But I did check dpr before I posted the question and found that their published specs don't support this, they list 100 ISO as the lowest for the K5 range.

Probably has something to do with smaller pixels due to 24mp. The K-5 has 80-51200 in expanded mode.

Digital SLR Cameras - DSLR Cameras - RICOH Cameras

That shows the ISO 80-51,200 on the site itself. I do hope things are updated giving lower ISO.

the ISO 80 and ISO above 12800 are called "extended" but they are available in every mode. You have to enable them from the menu. Just turn the option on and it is enabled. Maybe some sites list 100-12800 because they think some ISO are not available in every mode or somehow restricted. They are. Not restricted.

Right, so you're talking about 'pull ISO' which is in camera trickery, not real native ISO at all
('Push ISO' is extended ISO above the maximum native rating).

I am not sure... I think the iso 80 is not native but "stepped down" from ISO 100... but i think ISO 51200 is native to k-5... but i am not sure. please ask someone who knows about this... ^^

It's hard to tell, but the general consensus seems to be that ISO80 does have a slightly larger DR than ISO100 on the K-5's sensor. So it's not really trickery to enable slightly longer exposures. I for one always have my K-5 on ISO80 per default.
