Another Big Boy macro up. Not sure how long it has been on the list, buy now catagory.

I noticed something that raises my skepticism. The listing says f2.8, but the photos clearly show the max aperture to be f4 on the aperture ring. Also the description states f4.

Could be simple error or maybe trying to get more attention to their listing. Macro 200mm is f/4 no question on that. But there is also a 200mm f/2.8 so maybe just got confused when looking up the info. But if you are asking for that much cash you might want to get your facts right.

I asked the seller if it was f/2.8 or 4 and this was their reply:

"Hi,

My mistake, I will correct it , it is the F4 macro (there was no 200mm F2,8 macro lens made by pentax)"

It really must have just been a mistake because they did change it.

Easy mistake to make. I love cruising ebay and informing all the sellers of Pentax 50mm f/1.2 RARE lenses that they really have a 50mm f/2 and it is not RARE.

People want to much for items on ebay offered him 1900 came back with counter offer 2800 so i offered him 1700 he declined its a nice lens but over price if every one offed him between 800 - 1200 next week he will take my 1500

We will see how it goes. I am just a spectator. I guess the speculation on the FF has dropped some so FF lens prices may drop a bit too but this 200 Macro is one of the collectable classics. The sellers location is Singapore and it is my impression the Asian resellers ask major money for their inventory.

You can say that again Hong Kong the worst , its our own fault for talking up these lenses there nice but way over the top as with the A*400/2.8 on ebay asking $6000+ and $250 postage I told him if the want to sell it i will give them $3600 including postage and thats a fair offer they hope some one silly enough will buy it ,

Have any of you seen the red K-x on the bay that has a bid of $1136.00? I could not believe it. At the same time there was a blue K-x listed as "rare" and its bid went to $1100.00 but that changed quickly and was down to around $350. If someone can get $1100+ for a red K-x, I just might consider selling my black one, without lenses, for $800 or 900 to buy a K30. Anyone think that would fly? lol

I have seen a 50 /1.4 8 element go for over $400 some people don't research or get caught up in the Auction and i seen a VL 125/2.5 macro go for $3000 Nuts

If you price it high enough you can continue re-posting for 30 days at a time for quite some time without cutting into your profit margin enough to worry about it. Leave it up long enough and someone may finally bite.

It has been up for just 10 days since I noticed it with 3 offers obviously declined. You are dealing with a Singapore reseller so they may not budge or if they do it will be after some time. Good luck with it.
