SMC Takumar 85mm f/1.8
Posted By: tzrenz0, 04-19-2013, 10:34 PM

Pentax Screwmount 85 F1.8 SMC TAKUMAR (58) *WITH CAPS 35MM SLR MANUAL FOCUS TELEPHOTO LENS - KEH.com

Something you don't see everyday. Someone PLEASE grab it. I simply can't afford it at that price at the moment, if it stays there it will be a very long suffering.

Hi,
I would like it, but in the past month I have bought too much, as in a 645 outfit, a 6x7 outfit, an Asahiflex, a K, a K2DMD, a Spotmatic with seven lens and a Spotmatic motor drive and I would like a K5 IIs!
Regards.

I just bought a 77 this week, hasn't arrived yet so I'd probably pass, but if it was priced from 400-450 I might grab it. But really, I should be happy with the 77, this LBA thing is so unreasonable.

And Gordon, that is indeed too much. I thought you were kidding there for a second.

I'm also saving up for the DA 15, need something wider than my current DA 21. Already have the Rokinon 85mm f/1.4 so I'm good for that focal length.

There was a theoretical limit to what I would pay for a 50 year old screwmount lens. It is no longer theoretical.

They aren't *that* rare -- they go for $350-$500 on ebay quite often. I saw a pristine copy in a local store a while back for $400 I think...

I could swear that i saw one of these for sale at KEH itself for around $450 a few months ago.
I would find it impossible to buy one for this much when you have the samyang, with it's new optics, faster aperture and native k-mount brand new for half the price.

At that price I rather get the Zeiss T* 85/1.4

I have both lenses and the SMC Takumar 85/1.8 is no match in all aspects except for the size.

KEH also has one of those, but not "at that price": it's $959.

On eBay you can get the Zeiss Contax T* 85/1.4 in excellent condition from reputable sellers for $650-$800 BIN

KEH's prices have been unreasonable lately.

Then how to use C/Y mounted lenses on Pentax camera?

I have an excellent copy including the hood. It's a great portrait lens if your subject is patient enough to allow manual focus (I typically use LiveView for this). I would never want to part with it.

I would suggest you keep looking for a better price. I picked mine up through craigslist for $60 (my best bargain ever).

I know two ways, use Leitax adapter or convert it to a M42 mount then mount it on the K-mount via M42-K-mount adapter.

I personally found the Leitax option too expensive so I converted mine to M42 mount instead. Pretty easy.
