B&H is calling the 35 DA an L. Does this indicate that the quick shift version is immanent?

No, many have made that mistake over the past 1-2 about the 35/2.4 - even here people insist on using that label for it despite it not being accurate.

Based on the definition of DA L lenses that's what it should be called, so there was some confusion about it at the time of launch. Pentax USA had the typo on their web site, and it must have carried over to retailers.
