Hi again, sorry its been awhile, been busy with work. i havent quite finished the back yet but ive had some new toys since then.

First of which is a Fujinon A19 x 8.7BRM-28 which I bought on ebay from Israel. Its a 8-165mm 1.8 which i think roughly translates to 44-908mm? It was bought on ebay in terrible shape for £80. Im not usually one to stereotype but this lens definitely went through war! lol ... took it apart and gave it a complete service, works ok but wont focus when zoomed out past 20mm (does anyone have any ideas what could be wrong?). Its fine guess, as i bought it for the tele abilities.
I didnt want to pay £200 for a stupid adapter so I made my own mount and prototyped it.

I cant really use it yet as i havent made a lens tripod mount and im afraid of ripping the lens mount off the camera. so not much eyecandy here, but heres some of the moon from last night.

Wow! Great looking adapter. That had to be a lot of work. The lens looks nice and your moon image is sharp. Can't wait to see your tripod mount design and more pictures taken with the combo.
thanks for sharing

lol thanks!
and it didnt really take that much effort, cad models are my day job, so only took a hour or so to model it up and then sent it for prototyping :P

thanks mate, i try :P I love my wide angle lenses, makes everything look so epic!

I finally got around to having a walkabout with the lens... heres a few pics. Most were hand held/leaning against hand rail shots.

also... Its strange how the u cant take a 2sec+ exp with a manual lens.... for me its the single thing that ruins the camera, i dont get why this limitation is in place!!?? please can someone explain??

RAW-ISO4000-1/25
note its out of focus on the top of the cranes because of the shallow dof from the 1.0. its a bit weird but i really like it.

I like them, the fuzziness certainly adds a special touch to these images, many of them would have looked boring with a normal sharp lens and/or closed down aperture.

Love the pictures, daadaa. I just recently picked up a C > Q adapter and the 8-48 f/1.0 (pentax/cosmicar) and I'm waiting for it to come in the mail. Very excited, I'm hoping the copy I get is fairly sharp! I'm absolutely in love with the vintage look of the photos and I really want to incorporate that into some of my portrait sessions and excursions.

Did you have any problems fitting the 8-48 onto the Q? How about focusing issues (to infinity)? Did you try recording video with it as well? Hopefully you can answer some of my questions, I'm anxious waiting for it to come in!

it all went smoothly for me... everything just fitted together, infinity was fine. I did take some quick test vids, works fine, but for my copy, the focus doesnt track perfectly when you zoom in, tho mine does seem to be a very old copy, i would expect newer ones to be better.

Where did you get yours from btw? they do seem to be a bit rare in the UK, one of my friends wants one too but havent been able to find one in the country.

I too aspire to make an obnoxious Q. I'll be placing the 540FGZ on it along with the DA* 50-135mm. B)

That's great news, I can't wait to put it to use! I'm hoping that I get lucky with my copy... I'll definitely post up pictures once I get it in.

I picked mine up from ebay, there was an auction based in the Netherlands, I think he had 2 more last time I checked (at a cool 130 USD :O)
