Very nice! I've told my wife that she could photograph a black cat in a coal mine with her K-X. But you've come close to doing it.

I forgot to say that this was taken handheld with my 55-300mm in the early evening around 10pm with almost no light

I've had a Nikon D300 for a year , this K-X is way better in high ISO , don't think it's as good as the D90

It's a great shot! and a good example of what the Kx can do.

Did you shoot RAW?
I wondered if any of the highlights(head etc) were recoverable?
One of the down sides of higher sensitivities is the respective loss of DR. It's been my gripe with high ISO shooting for some time now.

Without that bit of information, I was ready to move this to another forum - as posted, with the emphasis on the camera and ISO setting used, this is not about lenses at all. I do think you'd be better off having posted this to the High ISO thread in the DSLR forum, but at this point, it's probably to late to be worth moving. Just something to keep in the mind for the future.
