Very sad IMHO - there is still Zeiss, but much more expensive unfortunately.

Very Sad indeed. But on the other hand, Pentax has lots of strong lenses in this area. The only lens im gonna miss is the 20mm as it covers film. I was always thinking about buying it... Ultron can be replaced by DA 40 (for the cost of one step lensspeed, dont know the english term, sorry), 58 can be replace with DA*55. I had the Ultron and Nokton in F-mount.

I've had the Voigtlander 58, 40 and 90 SLI. I don't have any right now, but have a 180 on the way.

Fantastic lenses though. The Voigtlander 58, I replaced with the DA*55. The 40 with the FA 43, and the 90 with the D FA 100 WR macro--all more expensive AF lenses.

The 58 was probably the best buy of the bunch. That 90 was a favourite too for a long time, and they just released the new version--surprised to see it go! Get 'em while you can...

This is truly not good. The existence of the C/V line helped to balance the holes in the Pentax lineup and also provided some incentive to Pentax to provide products of similar quality and build.

This is a sad day, if true. The Voigtlander Germany Web site still lists these lenses in KA mount. Is there any chance that they are discontinued for Japan only?

Thanks for posting the link. I agree that it is very sad, but according to another thread you are incorrect when you say "there is still Zeiss". According to another forum member the KA mount is being dropped for both Zeiss and Voigtlander:

https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/pentax-news-rumors/111963-zeiss-zk-update...ml#post1164655

When asked for the source, the poster said that the information came from an employee in a large Scandinavian company that is considering taking over distribution of Zeiss:

https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/pentax-news-rumors/111963-zeiss-zk-update...ml#post1164805

The link you posted seems to provide at least partial confirmation.

I pinged Steve Gandy at cameraquest (CV distributor) and here is his reply:

yes.

not that much, KA did not sell well.

Thanks
Stephen
So there you have it. Despite a good faith effort on the part of Cosina, poor sales will result in no more production of KA lenses. I would expect that they will be dedicating more capacity to the new Canon EF mount line.

A sad day for the K-mount, but you can't fault Cosina. It's a business decision - it sounds like K-mount sales never met their projected targets. I'm sure the F-mount and EF-mount Voigtlanders will do just fine.

Sad, sad day but understandable. I should get in on the 58/1.4 ASAP.

Pentax does have the A 20/2.8 which should be better than the Voigt, it's also only a few bucks more for a faster lens.

I would had sold them cheaper to create more buzz. that's the only thing the kept K-mount buyers away. not that K-mount buyers are cheap, but they find other cheaper and AF alternatives.

Great, there will never be a 125mm Apo-Lanthar again. I'm glad that I have bought mine this year...

I missed out on the Legendary 125mm f/2.5 APO Lanthar SLII macro I'll be damned if I'm missing out on the 58mm f/1.4.

I got a sigma 180mm f/3.5 in place of the Lanthar,And sigma has now discontinued it in all lens mounts. It's a good lens almost as good as my FA*200mm f/4 ED macro but I want that bloody lanthar! 200mm and even 180mm is a bit long in the tooth for APS-C format digital cameras, though I could probably get by purchasing one for my Nikon D3.

would you be willing to trade your FA*200mm macro for the 125mm Lanthar?
