just bought the DA-L 35 2.4 impressed

Before going to work yesterday I had to stop at this shop...and bought this lens..well I have to say I'm impressed. ALL PICTURES at f2.4 with the K-x-really like the sharpness wide open, Dof control is excellent as well as the bokeh.

the very first picture I took:

some test-shots during flying:

really like the colors..I'm not the only one here who is obsessed with taking pictures

and here's the guy himself sitting in the Sunset-he has a very very good eye for photography:

All I can say it looks like this lens is worth every cents..

Thanks for looking!

Hi Andras,

Your Ford has this for instrument panel? Can it really fly? I don't subscribe to cars magazine, maybe I am missing something.

Please clarify!

no it's actually a Ford aeroplane I'm flying and that is the control wheel in it

and regarding the question about flare-well I haven't really tested it-I only took into the Sun pictures through the airplane glass-which is very thick and slightly curved..not a fair test.

Looks like very pleasing results, and overall a very good value lens. I like the bokeh it renders. Thanks for posting.

And love the Ford aeroplane image BTW...

Oh noo no no no.. I was already afraid that this kind of threads might start to appear.
Must not buy...must not buy..so tempting.

On the serious side. Very nice pictures. I like the color rendering. It's interesting to see far oof text on panels having green tint and those in close oof areas being magenta tinted.

I wonder what interesting sights you might get from the cockpit.

It's shaping up to be quite a nice lens, good color and contrast, beautiful bokeh. If I didn't already have the FA35 I'd probably spring for it too.

Yes I also wonder what causes this..anyone any ideas?

Some pictures from the cockpit..well it's not really fair to test a lens through airplane glass...but all I can tell you that the color rendering of this lens helps a lot to capture some nice moments.

both pictures with the K-x and the DA-L 35 2.4:

It was something related to optical construction, when aberrations are corrected at focus plane. I think most lenses have this effect.

The last city shot is stunning. I've always admired such city views when flying, but it is really hard to take picture because there is light in salon.

how to think, would this 35mm lens be okay as a everyday lens, taking into consideration that usually i shoot streets, old structures, etc.?

I've been using a 28mm in this role, and finding that it is *sometimes* wide enough, *sometimes* not. Unfortunately you will likely need more than one lens if you want to capture big scenes, or a nice zoom.

The DAL 35mm looks fantastic, but I would have the kit zoom or something else in the bag as well for when you simply can't back up enough.

If the kit zoom does not cut it.... consider the Tameron 17-50 2.8?

don't really like zooms... my original idea was to buy the 21mm first. but i don't know how it will be facing everyday use based on my needs (although, i should admit that i've seen splendid pictures taken with it).

now thinking to get 35/2.4 and then, after a while, the 21mm or 15mm lim.
don't know how in your place, but where i live, all pentax lenses cost a fortune..

today I tried it on the k200d-the colors are much much warmer than the colors with the FA50 1.4-the only other prime I have.

both wide open iso 100 k200d

on this one I slightly missed the focus on his face..still really like this picture-the sky is beautiful blue-(no polarizer)

k200d iso100 wide open-sharp, beautiful colors very nice bokeh:

k200d iso400 wide open:

k200d iso100 f9:
