Old Vivitar doesn't like K-r?

I modified a Vivitar 70-210 zoom to fit my K10D as shown here. It worked wonderfully; not the best lens, but it worked.

A few days ago, I got a K-r, and the lens made the camera go crazy. It mounted fine, metered fine, but when I pressed the shutter, the mirror actuated twice, no image was recorded, and thereafter every button on the camera caused the mirror to slap. I turned it off, removed the lens and have been wary to try it again. I did pop it back on the K10D and it was still fine there.

Thoughts? Should I try it again? Should I remove the flange piece completely? Should I just forget about the lens?

Sounds like you may want to short out the contacts, using aluminum foil temporarily, and if that fixes it, aluminum tape.

Edit:

Oops. Just see you modified the mount. Gotta look at your link.

No one has any thoughts on this? I tried it again last night with the same results. After attempting a shot, it's like the aperture lever gets caught and doesn't fully open back up. The viewfinder is dim. I examined the mounts and aperture levers on the K10D and K-r and, as expected, they look identical.

Sure, I can, but it's the same as the one pictured at the above link. Would you like close-ups of any particular parts?

I don't know what I will be looking for. I hope the mount may reveal something. I once had 2 identical teleconverters. What puzzled me was that they behaved differently. It took me a lot of hair to figure out that the mounts were not the same as I thought.

I got same problem with my K-r, when press the shutter button, the mirro jump once and some times it get back a moment later. in most case, I can see in viewfinder, it becomes dim. I wonder the mirro position change after flip, but don't know what cause that and how to fix it. Can anybody here guide me?

picslover, do a search in the K-r forum. If I recall correctly, other batteries (eneloops?) do seem to solve it; requires the batteryholder.
