$300 ?? Can't be. There are several buy-it-now on ebay
- takumar 85 f1.9 for approx $300
- M85 $245
That one M85 is much lower than anything I've seen lately, and I was tempted when I saw it. They are usually over $300 as BIN. You can check out Buy & Sell New & Used Cameras ? Canon, Nikon, Hasselblad, Leica & More - KEH.com if you don't believe me about their price.

A promising review of the Sigma 85mm 1.4

I've been reading a lot about this Sigma 85mm and from what i've seen, i'm pretty damn impressed. I've never really favored Sigmas for many reasons, but there's too much to like about this lens. By accident I found this review of the Sigma 85mm 1.4. It's quite a revelation. Extensive testing of the sigma on full frame AND aps-c, compared to the canon 85 1.2 and nikon 85 1.4 G. Sigma bests or equals BOTH in several areas. These guys are european and the english is a little off at times, but still clear. From this hard, cold data, it would seem that the Sigma may have stirred things up a bit...

I've yet to see an example where KEH wasn't vastly overpriced

yep which gives you a damn good chance of it being in better shape than described as opposed to the other way round

Funny, I see KEH prices as being about average compared to Ebay. You may snag something at auction for less, but I've also seen half the BIN at any given time be higher than KEH.

Like i said Yeatzee the trick to KEH is the Bargain and one level up, they are very conservative in the rating of a lens. my $50 150 for the Bronica the focus grip was slipping. took me about 3 minutes to repair it
the 40mm had a small ding in the filter ring, same thing fixed in minutes. a little brassing on the 40 but no issues. anything that has seen use and is not close to perfect will likely end up bargain. most items i've seen off ebay people call excellent, minty etc would in reality be bargain at keh
you can get better deals on a no reserve auction that doesn't get bidders without a doubt, but i've seen lots of stuff sell well above keh prices YMMV of course. when i am looking though I am always certain to check KEH regularly (their stuff turns over pretty quickly in some categories)

We'll be doing a side-by-side comparison of the sigma and FA* 85 within a month or so- hopefully the sigma will set a new standard!
Can't wait to read the comparison.
Can you throw in an FA 77/1.8 as well?

Samyang wins for overall value, for f1.4, and for people can live with MF. K85 wins for me as a K collector, as a portrait shooter and as someone who likes to shoot f1.8 (can function as aperture priority at f1.8). FA77 wins for the rest.
Thanks for this. Any chance you could post comparison pics?

And if it's not so much more work, please throw in the K85f1.8 and perhaps the M85f2 as well.
All tests/samples in one place.
