Kit lenses - relatively good IQ

I have been shooting with a K10D for about six months now, but it still amazes me, what can be achieved with the simple kit lenses (either 18-55 or 50-200).
A few samples here:

And still another one with the kit lens (18-55) which shows a remarkable resistance to flare in backlit situations (the sun is just outside the picture on the upper left border):

Beautiful photos. Thank you for sharing them. I love the mountains and flowers and you sure have mastered the art of photographing them.

My K10D just got here and I'm looking forward to seeing what I can do with it.

Thanks for posting,

Phil

Thank you for the kind comments. I'm glad you found my country interesting. Did you take any pictures while in Slovenia? Could you show some of them? I didn't notice any in your pbase gallery - a very nice gallery you've got there.

Thanks for your greeting in my language. "Nazdravje" is just fitting these days as st. Martin's day approaches. According to our legends he is the saint that each year turns grape juice into wine - and at this time there are always celebrations all over the country.

Cheers - Nazdravje and many beautiful pictures

Thank you for your kind comments. Nature photography is also my favorite non-working occupation.
Congratulations on your new acquisition! K10D is a wonderful camera and can really help you take great pictures. As I said in another forum, I believe that taking a lot of pictures and enjoying the process, the pictures and learning with the camera is the best recipe for a fast mastering of new equipment.
I wish you many wonderful pictures with your new camera.

Regards

Janko

Fantastic shots, indeed ! I've been thinking of selling my DA 18-55 kitlens and go for the Sigma 17-70. But hey ! These pictures tell me to keep on shooting with the "cheap" Pentax-lens.
Another fantastic pro about this lens is its super-light weight. And esp. on a K100d I don't want heavy lenses, as the body itself is very light.

Thumbs up , Janko !

PS. seems Slovenia is a great holiday destination, esp. for landscape-photography?
