Would anyone be able to take a photo of this lens sitting on a table next to an FA31 and one or two DA Limited primes? And a photo of it mounted to a K-7 or K-5?

photozone.de has tested them on the K10D at least so that would give you an idea.

But the DA limited, FA31 and Sigma 30mm are all different lenses so i don't know what you want to gain.

The DA35mm is noticably different and those lenses f/2.4 and f/2.8 macro limited arent that fast as the Sigma or the FA31.
And if you look at the DA21mm that's even more different, that's a wide angle lens while the other lenses are normal lenses, so what is it that you're looking at???

I'm trying to get an idea of how large the Sigma is. I know how large the FA31 and many of the DA Ltds. are. I want to keep my kit small (for traveling) so I'm trying to figure out the trade-offs of going with a smaller-slower lens vs. a larger-faster lens. I know the Sigma is larger than the others, but I'd like to see it next to some of those others.

Heh, TOUGEFC was a bit quicker.

From left:
DA* 50-135
DA* 55
Sigma EX 30
DA 18-55 WR
K 50/1.2
M 50/1.7
DA 70 Limited
DA 15 Limited

So yeah, the Sigma is quite a beast… almost as fat as the 50-135.

Photozone.de has photo with the Sigma 30mm fitted on a k10d in their review about the lens, they have the same photo with the other lenses fitted so look at their site.

I was so torn about this Sigma 30 f1.4 or the Sigma 28 f1.8 and in the end I chose the 28 because of the macro capabilities, the fact it's a FF lens (future FF, hoping!), and it was cheaper. I do how ever give up the physical size and speed of the 30.

It was really a tough decision.

Just got this lens a few days ago, so I am getting used to its tendencies. All these were taken at f1.4. My dog Bentley and my Cockatiel Rosa. Oh and ignore the fat arm, lol.

This is going to be a fun lens

I think F/1.8-F/2.0 is the ideal aperture for the 30mm Sigma. The images are sharp, and the focus is good, and contrast is good. At F/1.4, I have more trouble getting sharp in focus photos, and the contrast isn't as good. This one is F/2.0 at 1/50th of a second, ISO1600, Pentax K-x. Austin, TX, 37th street stroll the other night. The longer I own this lens, the more I like it! I'm realizing that this lens can take some photos that no other APS-C lens can (except presumably the 31mm F/1.8). For awhile, I thought about getting the lighter 35mm F/2.4, but now I've decided to stick with the Sigma 30mm and the Pentax DA15mm as my main prime lenses, although I would like to eventually get a 50mm F/1.7, or even better, a 77mm F/1.8. I've also compared my Tamron 28-75mm with the Sigma 30mm F/1.4, and at F/2, the Sigma is sharper, and has better contrast than the Tamron at 28mm at F/2.8; both are superb stopped down to F/4.

Another one from the same walk, 1/25th, F/2.0, ISO1600
