Where to get accessories for the FA* 300/2.8, FA* 600/4, FA* 250-600, A* 400/2.8, etc

Staff note: This post may contain affiliate links, which means Pentax Forums may earn a small commission if a visitor clicks through and makes a purchase. If you would like to support the forum directly, you may also make a donation here.

I thought that those with the big expensive gear might find my research helpful.

Amazon.co.jp still carries a number of items that you can't get elsewhere.

** The rear FA* CPL for the FA* 300/2.8, FA* 600/4 and FA* 250/600/5.6:

Amazon.co.jpF PENTAX ‰~•ŒƒtƒBƒ‹ƒ^[ FA~ (ƒP[ƒX•t) 35184: ‰“dEƒJƒƒ‰

At the time of this writing, they are still in stock.

** The official Pentax 112mm SMC protective filter, for the F*/FA* 250-600/5.6, FA* 300/2.8, A* 600/5.6, and A* 300/2.8 :

Amazon.co.jpF PENTAX SMC PFƒtƒBƒ‹ƒ^[ 112ƒ~ƒŠ 35621: ‰“dEƒJƒƒ‰

There is also a more reasonably priced multicoated 112mm filter on Amazon US:

Amazon.com: Marumi 112mm 112 MC UV MCUV Multi-Coated Filter Japan NEW: Camera & Photo

** The official Pentax 145mm SMC protective filter for the A* 400/2.8:

Amazon.co.jpF PENTAX SMC PFƒtƒBƒ‹ƒ^[ 145ƒ~ƒŠ 35623: ‰“dEƒJƒƒ‰

I shopped a lot for a substitute on this one. I could not find *any* other 145mm filters.

** The official Pentax 150mm SMC protective filter for the F*/FA* 600/4 and A*1200/8:

Amazon.co.jpF PENTAX SMC PFƒtƒBƒ‹ƒ^[ 150ƒ~ƒŠ 35624: ‰“dEƒJƒƒ‰

--------

Now, you can't order any of these items from Amazon.co.jp unless you are in Japan, so you'll have to find someone to broker the transaction for you. One of our PF users, @Tom1803: View Profile: tom1803 - PentaxForums.com has been extremely helpful in brokering a couple of these transactions for me.

I hope this arcane knowledge has been helpful to you. If so, click the little thumbs up button over on the left. If not, well <shrug>.

I trust that these accessories will be included when you pass these lenses on to me, so no need for me to know where to purchase them

Fine research Clinton. I may be mistaken but between the huge hood on my a*400/2.8 and the 3 secret service agents I employ to guard it, its pretty protected already. Seriously, if i ever used it near the ocean where i get greasy salt water mist on everything, the 145mm glass would be a must and i have never seen one until you pointed it out. Thanks for the links.

When I bought my A* 600mm, it came with a brand new Pentax 112mm protective filter. I was surprised that new ones were even available, and now that I see the price I feel a little happier about the amount I paid. Any idea if the internal polarizers are still available?

@G_Money, I bought one of the rear FA* CPLs, and one of the 145mm SMC protective filters through Tom about a month ago, and they came through great. It took a couple of weeks for each, but it was well worth it.

I believe the FA * CPLs will not fit the F*. Can anyone confirm or deny? I have the F* 600F4. There is someone in town with the FA*, I'll try to meet up and compare the rear filters.

I doubt it. I know for a fact that the FA* Cpl wont fit in the A* lenses rear drop in filter. I don't have any F* gear to try with though.

What a great treasure trove of impossible to find accessories!

Interesting about the F*600/4 and F*250-600/5.6 not having front threads or PF filters. Perhaps there were two versions. My old F*600/4 came with the front filter (after I phoned KEH and read them the manual so they would include the filter that had been removed to sell separately). The manual that came with it says, "the Protective Front filter is not recommended to be removed as it is an integral part of the optical formula."

Just got off the phone with my buddy Joe who now owns the lens and it has threads, has the 150mm PF filter (which has a slight Skylight tone and isn't perfectly clear). I had him check and the PF filter is threaded too...I thought perhaps the PF was unthreaded causing some confusion in the specifications.

The lens is serial number 1167142. Curious if pureluck's F* is threaded or came with the PF filter?

Hey pureluck, we checked a few years back and the FA* CPL drop in doesn't fit the F*. I've never seen a listing or any other notice of the existence of a drop in CPL for the F* lenses.

Clinton, I checked my old purchase records...the FA*600/4 did come with the PF when purchased new. My FA*250-600 apparently did not come with the PF filter when purchased new as I have records indicating that I bought a 112mm Pentax PF filter from B & H exactly 7 days after taking delivery of the lens from Huppins in Spokane. The 600 was purchased in '96, the zoom in '97. Tranq78 of this forum has the zoom now and I'm still shooting the 600. Weird that Pentax included the filter on the prime and not the zoom.

I'm not sure why Bojidar Dimitrov's site lists these as having no front filter thread. I have a PF filters operating manual that came with my 150mm PF filter that says the F* 250-600 and F* 600 use these PF filters. I've updated the information above.

Thanks a lot for the tip. Here some information in return:

Amazon.co.jp does not ship outside Japan. However, tenso.com is a service, which ships Japanese products abroad ( Forwarding service connecting overseas customers and Japanese online stores [ Tenso.com ] ). You have to register, then you get a Japanese address, which you can use for your purchase. The product will be forwarded to your home address. Shipping costs and a small service fee have to be paid to tenso.com. In my case, the whole transaction took about two weeks.

Here in Germany, one has to add 6.7% for customs and another 19% on top of that for taxes.
