The cheapest wide angle lens?

Want to get a wide angle lens for my k-x.

The 14mm & 15mm limited is great, but the price is a little bit over my budget.

Can anyone recommend me a wide angle lens that's not so expensive?
Not looking for a super sharp lens, but do need decent usable sharpness.

Manual focus lens is also fine.

papar: i shoot a lot of landscapes, so i think i do need a focal length that is wider than 16mm, maybe 14mm or even wider.

yeatzee: thx for that info, never heard of the brand but i'll definitely look it up.

anymore suggestions anyone?
trying to get as many choices as possible now and compare.

Blue: i don't really have a budget range yet, that's why i am trying to get as many choices as i can now. i would say around 300 bucks is good for me.

Wide isn't cheap. The samyang(bower, falcon, bell and Howell, Rokinon, vivitar) is probably your best bet. I think you can get it for about 340.

Well, the Bower/Rokinon/Samyang (depending on where you buy it, I assume it is the same lens, someone can correct me if wrong!) runs $350+ on ebay. That will be your cheapest option as far as lenses that are 15mm or under.

As was said before, the 16-45mm is a very solid lens - 16mm is appreciably wider than 18mm (at the wide end, every mm counts, where at the telephoto end you'll find just as much difference between 200mm and 300mm as you would 16vs18mm). It'll set you back around (or under) $250 used on the forum or that auction site.

Unfortunately wide=expensive in general - your best option for a reasonable price if you are looking for a zoom will be the sigma 10-20mm (f4-5.6 version, not the newer f3.5 version). It'll set you back between $400-450 used.

BH has the DA 15mm LTD for $539 shipped but that is $239 above your ball park budget. The DA 16-45 maybe the cheapest way for AF but the lenses is fully extended on the wide end. Some people don't mind that but I don't particularly like that. Currently my widest lens for aps-c is the 18-55 WR and I have < $100 in it.

Don't you have the kit lens? 18mm should be wide enough. You want wider - Samyang is the least expensive - 14mm or 8mm fisheye.

While this is totally subjective, I don't agree that you need a wide angle at all to shoot a good landscape. In fact, I find it much harder to shoot a good landscape with an wide/ultrawide than it is with a moderate wide or normal lens (in the 20 - 35mm range).

I actually use my kit lens more for landscapes than my 15. Crazy, right?

I suppose I'm simply suggesting to be sure you are buying this lens for the right reasons. Wide angles are expensive, but zooms in the moderate wide-normal range are very cheap.

My personal fav landscape lens was the A 28mm f2.8. Crazy sharp stopped down, and a great focal length for landscapes.

The Tamron 10-24 is going for $499 new at B&H right now... and with a $50 rebate (ends July 31) that prices drops to $449:

B&H also has the Sigma 10-20 f/4-5.6 for $479 new:

Sigma 10-20mm f/4-5.6 EX DC J Autofocus Lens for Pentax 201109

These are your best deals in terms of new wide-angle zooms. But if you insist on a prime, the Samyang may be the best you can do, price-wise - $419:

Bower 14mm f/2.8 Ultra Wide Angle Lens SLY14MMF2.8P B&H Photo

But remember... the Samyang is manual focus, but may have connections for metering with Pentax cameras. You'll have to ask about that.

depends on landscapes you photograph....I had Samyang and it is veru good lens. But I find it too wide for landscapes ...now my main landscape lenses are K20/4 and FA31. M20 can be found for reasonable prices....

Correct.....Samyang acts like Pentax A-series lens so you can use it in all camera modes conveniently.
