Well, the lens release next week in Europe, the S.R.P. is [599eur] - that's $700+ USD...

That Is A Bummer! Way to much money!!!!!!

Prices are always higher in Europe. It'll be $500 or so over here, just watch.

Also, for a 24/1.4 that's not very expensive. Compare to the Nikon 24/1.4 at $2,000.

Ya, but not that much higher - $500 is what I am hoping, but maybe $600 would be a more realistic figure when it gets over here...

Prices in Euro almost always translate to the same price in USD, or slightly lower.

Prices have dropped over time with their 85mm lens. Of course, if you want it right away you'll pay a premium.

The sample images are certainly encouraging though....

Typically European prices are quoted with VAT tax if I am not mistaken. That being said, there will be 15% at least added into the final price as that is the standard rate across the EU and could be slightly more depending on the country you purchase it in. I know Germany was 19%. I felt so bad for them having to pay those prices which were inflated already and to include the VAT as well compared to what we paid stateside for the same lens... Then again, look at how well their economy is compared to ours so obviously something is being done right. I would venture to say we will get it between $550-$650 here after tax.

No AF and did anyone realize how BIG this lens is????? A lot of glass to carry around as it is just another retrofocus wide angle lens.

Retail price stroy...

Dollar price * 1.3 is Euro price.
Euro price * 2 is Swiss Franc price

Best value for the money - dollar land

This relationship works quite well and does not at all reflect buying power or exchange rates...
