Is there any one that has both of these? Can not afford both now so i will have to make a choice.I will be using mainly for portraits.
I have read all the reviews on both but i would like peoples opinions that have used both of these lenses. Thanks

If you don't mind the size and the weight, the Pentax-A SMC 35-105mm f3.5 is a fantastic lens. Also, it has A setting, which makes life much much easier.

You give up only 1/2 stop.

The bokeh of the zoom isn't spectacular, and the 100mm's isn't much better, either. I'd recommend getting something else for portraits.

On full-frame, the 35-105 does make for a great walkaround, though!

I live on my DA*50-135 for portraits but if I had your budget, a lens I wish I had kept and will end up with again, 70-210 F4 SMC A MACRO.

The 50mm prime lenses 1.4 or 1.8 both get decent reviews.

Both lenses will/should give you excellent results for portraits, if focused properly.
Both have 6 blade diaphrams so you will get hexagonal bokeh when stopped down.
I own both and if I had to choose one it would probably be the A 35-105 because it's more versitle and has "A" contacts. It's definitely bigger and heavier though so if size and weight are a concern, get the M 100/2.8.
Both are super lenses.

Here are 2 portraits I shot with each lens.

Shouldn't you be looking at a fast prime between 50 and 135mm? The 55mm are especially considered to be a portrait focal length for crop cameras.
But on the other hand, those lenses should be good enough, provided you have good light and coach your models a little
